I don’t know. Is it okay if a bunch of us just stand around and watch?

There's no way to put a number behind how much cringe their "reveal" is... OMFG, TPG, just stop. ::facepalm1::

I didn't and won't watch the whole cringe-fest; here's what I got:

1. Made their business look like they took the money and ran
2. But... "secretly" took a week off to do extra-super-special-top-secret community service and organize a fund-raiser on their channel
3. Now they're crying and thumb-sucking about how they're victims of social media; "If everyone just spent a quarter of their time they spend on social media doing extra-super-special good deeds like we did, we could change the world!"
4. TPG == altruistic heroes. All of you == super bad people.

I bet that the day after it went dark is when they decided to do the charity thing to get goodwill back. It was a popular enough channel that they could have easily reached that goal without the stunt. If you want to take off of filming for a week just say it and go, nobody would have really minded.

I’m watching the reveal now.

What’s commendable I heard is shifting 5% of their monthly profits to Charities, the auctions and time now onwards.

The blackout certainly created a lot of buzz. Hopefully some of the positive notes stick with those watching.

I’m actually a fan of their channel but don’t agree with this pr stunt. Still don’t understand the purpose. So one of their goals was to highlight the spread of misinformation and time spent on social media? Welcome to mid 2000s.

The other side of the spectrum. Raise enough awareness around their business and have massive spike in viewership for unveiling to highlight a charity.. ok, but with their growing numbers this wasn’t necessary. They’ve grown at a record pace.

If anything this felt like like a move to drive traffic as their numbers have slowed. Cringe.

So basically a couple of social media guys ON social media saying people spend to much time on social media. Pull a social media stunt and go black on social media and go and do some charity work and film it for social media 😕🤦😕🤨

That about sums it up. Douchebags being douchebags, at least in my view.

I'd never heard of them until this week and I'm afraid I watched 10 mins last night out of morbid curiosity.
There's a sort of inevitability about these guys. He seems like a classic narcissist, high on the psychopath scale and it's never long before things go bad. When they do it's everyone else's fault.
Very much enjoyed the lecture on Social Media overuse - from them.

That was after I turned them off. I couldn't even make it that far.

... the(y) really shake up the watch world...

No they haven't.

They're douchebag grey market dealers, making videos about being douchebag grey market dealers.

The only thing they shake up is my gag reflex.
