So what's so special about this pizza? I'm a big pizza fan but I order Pizza Hut cheese lovers with stuffed crust (or occasionally Dominos cheese with stuffed crust) since I'm a vegetarian

Go the Dominos vego, but with BBQ sauce. My fav when I'm craving cheap nasty pizza!

I have, as I have a biennial gig in Austria (always detour to Munich - great watch town). I'd say Osterreich at its best is better than Oz, but Oz gets laurels for consistency - you can get top flight stuff - waaay better than anything I've had stateside - from a large number of pretty unassuming places.
It is pretty amazing for coffee here. When I originally moved over to Australia from Canada (9 years ago), I was shocked. The Aus coffee-culture isn't widely known, and people don't assume that Aussies would take coffee very seriously.

There's tiny coffee shops everywhere, and they're all fairly competitive with each-other. They've dialed in quality/service to a very high level. Starbucks opened a ton of stores here and failed. They closed the majority of their franchises because they couldn't compete.

Reference:
ALMOST 700 employees of the coffee chain Starbucks will lose their jobs on Sunday after the company yesterday announced the closure of 61 of its 84 Australian stores. ... The American company admitted it had struggled in Australia's "very sophisticated coffee culture" and said the announcement was unrelated to its closure of 600 stores in the US this month.
From the BBC, 2008.

Interesting. Never thought of Australia as a destination known for their good coffee! I lived in Germany for almost thirteen years, traveled all over Europe and always considered the Italian coffee-ways as the best of the best. To this day, the Lavazza brand remains my favorite coffee beans. I don't think Starbucks is a brand name known south of the Alps either....

Oddly we're actually known for producing extremely high quality wines too

Australia had a lot of migrants from Greece, Italy, Austria, Hungary, etc in the 40s/50s, bringing the central/southern European coffee culture.

Very cheap, decent wine too. Respectable Australian varieties starting at $6/bottle, French starting at $9/bottle. $30 will buy you an amazing Shiraz/etc.

And for those wondering, the cheapest Australian wines are white-label $1.50 white/red, which is actually better quality than any of the boxed/cask wines you find in the US and Canada. Not bad considering it's cheaper than bottled water.

The US and particularly US East Coast had a ton of Italian immigrants. I think they decided to leave most of the coffee back home.

Wine and coffee, two things that I can't live without!
Lucky I'm an Aussie then!
(Having said that, I have a weakness for Hawaiian Kona and get some bought back for me by every traveller I know!)

Beautiful machines. How many cups did you drink today? Did you stay up all night? 😉

Happy New Year all!

Hah! Funny!

Ironically, if I drink espresso after 6pm I won't sleep, and two shots per day are my maximum.

I do enjoy making shots as much as drinking them, though. I just pulled a beauty from my 1970 Olympia Cremina:

For me, bliss is a good espresso and a nice French-style croissant, but to start the new year on a sweet note I had a Berliner (jelly doughnut to everyone else) with this cup.

May 2013 find everyone enjoying something that gets them nicely jacked up!

Cars, motorbikes, astronomy, drums/music and I have just started collecting NASA shuttle mission patches. Me and my fiance have a rabbit we love very much.

Daily hack, bit boring.

Congrats on the upcoming marriage, she's definitely a keeper. I take it you're explaining to her that you get whatever watch you want as a wedding present right?
