As the title states, just curious to see what hobbies/interests other ΩF members have.

    I'll go first...

    • Sailing/boats
    • Brewing beer from grains and hops
    • Cycling (Monocog, single-speed mountain bike)
    • Freediving
    • Collecting/listening to tons of music. Recently acquired a decent headphones & amp setup. Favourite genre is Reggae (not that weird US pop stuff)
    • Cat herding (we have a Bengal)
    • Rum.
    Cheers

Cars are among my favorites... When I was 15 I was waiting in a parking lot at the repair shop while my mum's BMW 525i was being serviced, and there was a 1987 E30 M3 Turbo in black parked there with the keys in it, I hopped in and sat in it for a little while, and realised I just had to have one. Bought a 1985 E30 318i Manual (it got stolen) then a 1999 BMW 328i Auto and lastly a 2001 BMW 330Ci Manual M-Sport, both of which I still have.

I actually had been dreaming of going on to a Porsche 911 after the two bimmers, as my dad had a pair of 911s back in the 70s and a Porsche 924 in the 80s, however my lovely sister in law spent several drunken hours this past weekend explaining to me in detail how every man she's ever known with a Porsche was a wanker with a small unit and that women find "Porsche guys" repulsive, sock-sniffing ass-hats. So it seems my 911 dream is over...

Maybe a 280SL Pagoda or a De Lorean...

The Sienna Red Metallic car is the 330Ci and the Fern Green Metallic car is the 328i

Down to a few interests as time limits my hobbies.
    • fishing
    • baseball (just watching, we have a season ticket package)
    • hockey (again, just viewing)
Gave up cars because it was too much of a hassle when it all added up. Don't golf anymore because of an elbow injury but might give it a go this spring. I enjoy the odd glass of rum too, and a dark beer here & there.

What kind of cars were you into? I sort of imagine you in a vintage 1950s Cadillac with the giant fins on the back.

I'd like to point out that many Australians park cars on lawns whenever they feel like it. To any foreigner coming from a country where parking on the lawn would be far more taboo, it's quite amusing :)

In most of North America, it's generally frowned upon. :)

Funny! First it was old muscle cars. Owned a few interesting ones like a '71 Challenger, a '70 Barracuda, and '69 Torino fastback. Next I started trying to make 4 cylinders faster. They were lighter and handled much better. First was an '85 Laser, last was a '00 Focus. It was simply too expensive.

Yeah, it's considered kind of trashy, especially if you mow around it so the weeds get a foot tall. :p

Ah but by parking on it, the grass beneath doesn't get sunlight and can't grow, so I just have brown patches everywhere.

One of the reasons I got into watches is that cars are too expensive to fix, particularly if you actually want to drive them. I figure it was better to go to antique car shows and own antique watches than the other way around. Watching the muscle car auctions on VelocityTV takes care of that fix for me.

    You mean something like this?

Yeah, most houses here in the States have paved driveways, unless there's a large amount of land involved. Even then, most communities have laws prohibiting lawn parking unless you can't see it from the roadway.

    Enjoy,

    Thank you, well spotted.
Put your fingers in your ear and go la la la....This beaut is a 330d !!. I know not a real petrol head but still a great car, had it re-mapped to about 230bhp and still got 45 to the gallon.
