Do it yourself. It’s super easy.

Oh there’s so much room for f***ing it up there.

I’ve learned what is easy for some is a nightmare for others... I never tell someone it’s easy unless I know they can do it. I can replace a transmission bearing on a Royal Enfield in 45 minutes, easy, even made the tool for the job in that time. My favourite motorcycle buddy struggles to perform the most basic service on his bike. If I were to turn him loose on a watch with some polishing equipment there would be a hole in the case inside of five minutes! guaranteed.

What’s easy is making a 5000 dollar watch into an 800 dollar watch by polishing it improperly.

Why would one polish a Speedmaster?

Isn't that sort of thing frowned upon in polite society?

Correct answer : nowhere. Repeat after me 100x : ‘I don’t want to polish my Speedmaster’.

Polishing isn’t irreversible...

You can always sand it later 😁

I think you are thinking crystal polishing. I am guessing the OP means case polishing, not super easy at all. It is indeed frowned upon to polish anything remotely vintage* but If it is a recent model then I can see why the original factory finish has appeal over a tatty knocked about look and a good watchmaker can put it back to that without metal loss, perhaps using laser welding if necessary, but a bad watchmaker can screw it up and lose edges and definition. Tread carefully.

*A case refinish is included as part of a full Omega Service, would I have a 10 year old Speedmaster refinished, Yes. Would I send my Ed White to Omega for a service, parts change and refinish. Hell no! Horses for courses. Where the age break between shiny factory or original patina is, is open to debate but I have had 1970s pieces refinished when I thought they would benefit and were badly marked. Solid gold pieces in particular dont look great bashed up.

Take it to LA watchworks. I believe he was asking for suggestion of where to send his watch for a good polishing job, he wasn’t asking for anyone’s opinion on watch polishing and the ethics of it or whether he should do it. How about we stick to answering the questions at hand?

you didn't use the sarcasm font 😀

Good catch... I went back and added an appropriate grinning face so nobody actually attacks their Royal Oak with 80 grit.

Actually, it’s the fact that there’s twits like this out there that made the manufacturer put a “no pets” warning label on the air tight trunk of my motorbike... * sigh*....

If you fancy heading into the city, there are 2-3 different Omega-certified watchmakers in the Shreve building, immediately across the street from the Tourbillon on Post. It's where the Tourbillon refers clients to for bracelet brushing on new sales, of watches with polished center links if the client is so inclined for a fully brushed bracelet.

I did got the bracelet on my 60th anniversary Seamaster brushed at one of those vendors. Unfortunately, my memory fails me on which of the 2 inside that building I went to. Some pics on their results: https://omegaforums.net/threads/brushed-bracelet-on-60th-anniversary-seamaster.88132/

Why? Because sometimes people do not know what they do not know. And once they do know, they may or may not want to reevaluate their course of action.

Obliterate the factory finishing and it will impact the future value of the watch. Does the OP know that? Maybe, or maybe not -- he does not say. It would be irresponsible not to let him know. Sure, he can have material laser welded back onto the case down the road and restore the case to a factory appearance, but it will cost $$ to do so.
