While it may seem a simple task of gathering case/movement/dial/hands etc and just assembling them, it can be a bit more complicated.

People always underestimate the ease of doing this...and after they have done it, tend to appreciate more what is involved. There are days when I think doing this should be mandatory for watch collectors, so that they understand first-hand what is involved - would cut down on the wining about various things considerably I suspect.

I agree the design and looks should be yours rather than a jumbled conglomeration of forum suggestions. My only input is I'd be in if you offered the option of a Swiss movement for a few bucks more.

I would agree that a Swiss movement would be preferred.

@Archer, any quick points on why Swiss over Japanese? Just curious as I thought the NH movements were fairly well regarded generally (even if below Swiss).

@Archer, any quick points on why Swiss over Japanese? Just curious as I thought the NH movements were fairly well regarded generally (even if below Swiss).

If there was an ETA or Sellita in there, it would be something that I would feel is worth repairing, rather than just swapping them out, like most of the cheaper Asian movements are handled.

I don't have enough interest in spending (any) money on a nonfactory watch. Sounds interesting to some but I have no interest at all.

A forum I belong to for magic and cards did this with a deck of playing cards using the forum name to garner support. Obviously you couldn’t do the whole thing but maybe an OF with cool script add a couple bucks to support the forum. I don’t know it’s just a thought and tbh I’ve been under the influence of some weird medical stuff since I saw the MD Monday and everything is really weird and spinny I think it’s time to listen to the Grateful Dead and not make dumb comments on watch forums.

Still on the table.

most details are ironed out but slow going as work and teaching takes a lot of my time.

it will contain nods to the forum, and certain threads. 😀
