Before social media became a platform for watch enthusiasts and collectors, we hung out on some of the (many) watch forums online. At some point, Omega Forums arose, using a very user-friendly interface for its members to participate in watch-related discussions. Although the name implies that it’s about Omega, the site also hosts forums for […]

What a great interview narrative!

It warms my heart to read about one of ours and find him to be so engaging and articulate.

Thanks for posting this one!

I think anybody online in that forum screenshot should get early access to the Platinum Champagne Lounge.

Yes! I was strangely stoked to be on the avatar list in that shot 😁

Thank you for this amazing platform. (Looking forward to seeing what you're working on next.) And thank you to all the mods for being the Benevolent Dictators who keep it all functioning at a high level.

Wait, the Silver Snoopy is the best read thread 👎. I always thought it was the Speedmaster case back autograph collection thread or that idiotic Timely watchband calendar post. 😀

Just kidding, in all seriousness, thanks to Ash, Trev, and all the moderators that dedicate their time to making the Omega Forum the best watch forum on the net.

I had the opposite reaction; now I can prove to my wife I am not on the forum 24/7 as she claims!. 😉

But good article! Nice job Ash, you come off very well.

As a newcomer to this site this interview was terrific. Great to read about the history and makes me even more appreciative that this place exists.

Thanks Robert-Jan too.
OF and Fratellos are definitely great places for vintage watch lovers.

Very cool. And have to say (to @dsio’s credit and others), I wandered away from Omega for a bit, but came back in large part because of this forum and the community it instills. The watches are awesome in their own right, but having a place to learn about them and share the enjoyment of them—just as important to me.

"AB: Seeing young people get into their first watch, whether it be a vintage Genève or Seamaster or a used Seamaster Pro, and knowing they’ll be watch enthusiasts for life. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to see so many young people grow into knowledgeable, passionate collectors."
This quote right here from @dsio rings very true for me. I stumbled across this site trying to learn about my great-uncle's CK 2414-2 and now, to my surprise, I'm a full blown Omega & watch enthusiast. Still a ways off from "knowledgeable" but definitely passionate thanks to @dsio, the mods and all you lot here.

I add my thanks to Ashley for OF, with one small qualification. The more I read OF posts and comments, the more I was exposed to things I found interesting and desirable, and then of course the more my collection grew. Over the last ten years watch collecting has been a hugely enjoyable experience, if somewhat budget breaking.
