Bit too same-y of an accumulation for my tastes. He needs more.

Long story long, I remember my father gifting me his rifle when I was 18. I no longer speak to him at all so this is pretty much all I will ever receive from him. I forgot about it didn’t think much of it ever since I was 25. I moved to Cali then and knew it had to stay in Indiana.
Fast forward. My mom is retiring and moving to Florida. She is in town (I now live in suburbs of Chicago) and she brought up my remaining items from her house. One was my fathers rifle. I don’t know much about it and was hoping someone could guide me? I’d prefer to sell it and get something I’d rather own. If it’s not worth much which I don’t believe it is (maybe a couple hundred bucks?) then would having it serviced be worth it and start using it at the range? Or just let it be a part of a collection?

it’s a Sears Ted Williams model 21 12 gauge serial 583.2025. All I can gather is it is made by High Standard chamber pump.

like I said I don’t have any real sentimental value towards it since my father and I don’t have a relationship. I’d like to sell it but wouldn’t bother me if it just sat either.

I think it's a derivative of High Standard's own Flite King pump which was a pretty decent and rugged all steel shotgun back in the day.

Here's a link to a forum describing the guns.
https://www.1911forum.com/threads/best-combat-shotgun-that-no-one-has-heard-of.957874/

Our youngest son picked up a High Standard Flite King riot model from a pawn shop when he was in college. It came to roost here and made it into a group photo of short barreled rifles and shotguns while I was keeping it in the safe for him when he was in the Marine Corps. It's fifth from the top and, as it happens, also fifth from the bottom. The rest of the menagerie belongs to me. I never really cared for short barreled "long guns," but was surprised to find that a few have come to roost here over the years. They can be useful and some are semi-collectible.

If nothing else, this photo proves that when it comes to handy and effective carbine length arms, there is life beyond the popular fixation with "all AR 15, all the time."

I would definitely like a left-handed AR with a triangular hand-guard. Some companies have made them in the past, but...

Strangely enough, shooting sports and firearms collecting is my very favorite hobby. But, there are more bozos within it than there are in the watch hobby.

In that sense I’m glad I only deal with the watch bozos, there are dudes that clearly have issues that get banned from them to time making threats but they’re always an ocean away, usually harmless, and mostly hot air. The worst was a dude that threatened to harm his wife and kids if he didn’t get unbanned.

If it were a guy near me that was heavily armed and deeply disturbed, I’d be really disinclined to run a forum at all.

I don't blame you one bit for that, but fortunately, those are usually cowards who bluster large online until they get confronted in real life and run away.

Alas, once in a long while you do get a looney toon...

Well that’s the other thing, watch guys almost all have a great life and too much to lose to go fully loony. It’s less likely to be a guy living in his mums basement that’s still upset that a girl rejected him in the late 90s.

I moderate on a couple of firearms forums dsio. One's private, only open to those who meet with the approval of the owner and me. It's great! We're old friends and relations or else very longtime internet buds from the early days of forums who sought refuge from the public firearms forums. There are about 50 of us, mostly of a more mature age (read that old fogies).

The other is a large forum though it's tapered off in attendance and participation in more recent times. It can become annoying at times, but the moderation team doesn't suffer fools gladly, dropping the ban hammer if a member doesn't play well with others. Easier not to string 'em along.

@noelekal is the latter forum you mention the one we are both members of? If so, you are correct, they have an excellent admin team.

No, not Colt Forum. I'm just a longtime member there.

Love old Colt!
