The sound of racking a jankity mossberg doesnt?

That's TV/movie nonsense. You rack it when they're beating on the door. When they get in, they see the muzzle and the bayonet and they choose to live or die.

Same thing with an automatic pistol, like my favorite Model of 1911. You carry those cocked and locked. The racking of the slide is just bullshit.

oh you were being serious?

so let me see: you rack while they’re banging on the door, then they get through the door, and THEN you want them to look at your bayonet for a spell?

See, I would think that’s instead the perfect moment for throwing stars...

Pretty excited about this one. I just purchased a 1970 no dash 66 2.5” with stainless sights
and red ramp front. I was searching for a pinned and recessed to match my 19-4 2.5”. Pics are not the best as it’s from the seller and shipping from out if state. I’ll follow up with better once in hand.

No dash model 66 incoming:

Great gun. I had a few back in the day. I like the 2-1/2", but I'm going to post a pic of my favorite length .357 here next.

This is my favorite length for the model 66 (or 19). These have a few extra mods, but they had me at 3". I carried the F-comp (66 - the 19 is a K-comp) officially on the job for 10 years, back when we could carry a personally owned weapon. (If something was planned of a little more serious nature, I'd switch over to my 1066 - I still have that one, too.)

I know this isn't the usual fare here...and I'm primarily an old west/antique guy, but couldn't resist this little number. Hella fun to shoot....and very loud! Double hearing protection mandatory.

Perfect length for a suppressor. I have a couple of SBR AR-15 (10-11.5" to make room for my AAC suppressor.

I'm jealous of you guys. We had short barrel M4's issued when I worked. I would love to have one now. But I live in NY!

It took me a while to think about how I would respond to this baiting reply.

A bayonet on a trench gun is just a Good Idea. Mossberg put the bayonet lug on the shotgun for a reason.

When the sh-- hits the fan, maybe your eight rounds are enough. Maybe not. Or maybe you won't have to shoot. It's a well-known fact that your average criminal is a bit more afraid of a knife than a gun... because you should fear the man trained to use a knife.

Whatever scares the guy who made it through the locked door is worthy. Belt and suspenders.

The chances are I will never face a bad guy ever in my life. I live in a low-crime neighborhood. I'm 54 years old and got assaulted exactly once when I was drunk and stupid.

But lots of people have fire insurance too even though most people never lose their houses to a fire.

Nice purchase
I'm also a fan of the model 19's and model 66's This 66-2 earns her keep for home protection. Everyone in my family knows how to handle a revolver. I like to keep thing simple. This one is a tad over polished however that hides the small scuff marks from showing. I like the bead blasted finish for all intended purposes the hand polishing does the job. The original grips are stored the rubber grips help tame the recoil when using hot 357 loads.

Damn... if 8 rounds in a 12 gauge shotgun can't do it, I got ask: are you fighting werewolves?

If so, make sure the bayonet is made of silver.

I would make the throwing stars out of silver too, just in case!!

Winchester Silvertips has been around a long time. Might be a rifle caliber answer to the werewolf issue. Bought mine at Walmart for .308 rifle, but it was available in multiple calibers like 30-06, 270 and others. I do not know if .223 had it, but I have seen it in .222 Rem, so it was probably available.
