The .38 is sublime and the .357 mag is total overkill for the range. We are both in love with this rifle. Super accurate, tight groups. Since he’s nervous about keeping it at his place in the city, well dad may borrow it from time to time.

May I ask a question here after a discussion with a friend last night: I will try to explain in my humble English!
If you adjust a rifle - let s say with .50bmg at one mile on a rifle-range in east-west direction and the turn to north and shoot at an aim -> there must be an adjustment concerning the coriolis-force. yes or no? ( calculator says 21 cm = av. 1 inch.)

Of course, because the toilet swirls in the opposite direction. Daaaaaaaaaa. But, really, one mile. I’m on the com asking for airstrike.

Jesus Christ, you made me google this. No wonder I miss at one mile so much.

Yeah that does have a bigger effect than I had expected and explains why ( i am joking of course) I miss the odd Magpie at 350 meters out by just a whisker, and here I had been thinking it was my angle of inclination, wind, obturation of the round, poor BC's of the round and the associated gravitational effects due to time to impact and so on (by the way I always use an Airgun for this as its with in the technical boundaries of the city).

The kid bought himself a present x mass eve after we got done shooting.. I will join him tomorrow for some target practice after he finishes the paperwork. .357/.38 Rossi R92 16”.
I think a 38/357 lever gun is the most versatile firearm on the planet.👍

When I first got into long range shooting (1000 yards) about 20yrs ago, I knew very little about these affects, only that there were some titters from a couple folks at the range when I simply adjusted for bullet drop. I learned quickly re spin drift and Coriolis effects. My DOPE charts have progressive windage adjustments at each distance to accommodate. I can confirm it is not easy to shoot at those distances. Of course temp, humidity, air pressure, and wind on any given day have even greater effects.

I owned my only prior Hi Power pistol 30 yrs ago and within a couple years had traded it off. Now 30yrs later I saw a cool Hi Power recently and thought how much I liked that earlier one, and wondered why between then and now I never picked up another one.

Anyhoo, here it is, an unusual piece of history, late 1941 Belgian WWII piece made under Nazi occupation. Love the idea of the Tangent sight, adds some coolness though the practicality is highly suspect. Why the extra complexity, I'm not sure(particularly given no provision for a buttstock attachment). Still reading about the history a bit. I think its the most interesting of the Hi Power lineage, and is not so fine it cannot be shot, so off the range I go!

I think I may end up with one also. Super fun. Big learning curve to tear down and clean as my son discovered last Sunday.

This 9mm Hellcat Pro from Springfield Armory is the newest horse in my stable. My dad thought I should have gone Glock, but I am very happy with it.

So the old expression 'when it rains it pours' is happening right now....

Here is yet another Husqvarna Swedish M40. I told the M40 history story before with my first(and second) M40 post above. This one(top) is also a serial number from the group provided to the Danish Resistance in WWII to train and prepare exiled refugees from Denmark to take back their country from Nazi Germany. It also has the markings for the post war Danish National Police, who continued to use the M40 for some time after the war.

So that's three now in 6 months, where I had only seen one ever in real life in the 25yrs before that.

So TWO of these three being Danish resistance pistols(also called Danish Exile pistols). Only a few of the total produced were Resistance pistols(~2% of production). Both produced in 1944. Such cool history!

The third one being a very early production from 1940

I have a soft spot for old Colt Army Specials and for Colt revolvers with a Big C Rampant Colt, so when I ran across this Army Special, circa 1909, I decided that I had to have it. Mechanically this gun is excellent, and the bore is good. It does have a moderate to heavy amount of holster wear, but all the markings are crisp. I paid too much for this gun, but I am happy with it.
