So did anyone do this as a kid?

Yep plenty and mowed lawns too! Things ain't the same nowadays. I don't expect any kids knocking on the door looking to shovel snow.

Not till saturday

Thanks for the heads-up. I still have time to snatch up all your watches for pennies on the dollar. What is the exit number on the Merritt? 😁

When you get a few meters, let me know...then I'll have some sympathy for you...

😉
I grew up in the Berkshires, I used to walk a 10 miles to school barefoot in meters of snow, uphill, both ways

Carrying hot baked potatoes in my pockets to keep warm. Then eat them for lunch and was grateful.

I assume that is a "tri-state area" of some sort? 😉

I used to weed people's vegetable gardens too...as well as our own, which was massive...

25th winter with “old reliable”.
Canadian made (but not anymore) and never a storm it couldn’t handle.
A few oil changes and spark plugs over the years. Some gas and air in the tires. That’s it.
5 speeds forward, 2 reverse. Electric start.
Wife thinks I’m nuts not to hire a service to plow but I actually enjoy it.

Wish I had held on to the original box and papers😀

You had potatoes for lunch?............Luxury!!

We would eat the peelings from other kids potatoes and then the teacher would beat us about the head with her ruler!

I did too for a few winters, the suckers would always feel bad at the end of it and add on a few extra dollars😁. Wasn’t all that long ago, maybe 8 years

Didn't do it so much growing up. But, when I got to college is was an excellent source of beer money.

Cool! I miss the snow. As a kid we always had a lot of snow in the Netherlands. Now we need to go to Germany or Austria to see the snow. It's a shame...

My wife is one of those suckers. Since she grew up snowless in Australia, I think she doesn't understand that this is sort of a "right of passage" for many Canadian kids at least. You learn the value of finishing a job you started. He was well paid too, even though she was out there for at least 50% of the time he was there. Didn't mind, he's a good kid...
