If given the choice, I'd buy a Rolex Daytona Ceramic before the Snoopy for around that kind of money
This is a very important point. My major in University was Economics and the idea of opportunity cost is a very important one.

The cost of any item should be considered not only in the terms of the money one pays for it, but also in terms of the many alternatives things one could buy with the same amount of money.

Ie: One Snoopy for $12,000 USD
Or.... 4 watches for $3,000 USD?
Or.... 1 of many other watches for $12,000 USD?

Each of us of course has different financial situations and also very different tastes and preferences.

That makes me wonder if people were buying them just to sell them. Obviously they have every right to do so, but it's certainly a kick in the nuts to the enthusiast who wasn't able to buy one at MSRP.
just because there are some number of watches on the market for sale, does not mean people were buying them just to sell them. Consider how many people flip/sell/trade watches on this forum; not unusual for people to enjoy a watch for a few months then find another "love" so flip the "old" watch. This watch happens to garner a bit more attention than others. name any watch and you will see them for sale by someone in the secondary market. With that said, I would conjecture people who bought the watch with no intention of selling may have changed their mind given the profit potential-- opportunity cost, as well explained by @gostang9.

DaytonaC situation is no different than Snoopy. For most people, they can't buy DaytonaC at MSRP, "around that kind of money." You stated "if given the choice"; well, that choice is not given for most. The only choice for most is to purchase either watch well above MSRP. At least with DaytonaC, if you can wait long enough, you are pretty much guaranteed to get it at MSRP, since the supply, although restricted, is not limited. There will be thousands and thousands of DaytonaC in 10 years but only 1970 Silver Snoopy's. I do not think Snoopy will ever fall below MSRP.

I think the market has spoken. Snoopy "bubble" has subsided and is settling into a reasonable supply/demand equilibrium. I would think there are at least 1000 true speedy/snoopy aficionados who will never sell. Probably about 100 to 200 traded in the secondary market at "bubble" prices so not likely these will be sold again anytime soon. Not too many watches left to be "flipped". Appears the current market price is $12k to $14k, depending on the reputation of the seller.

I think it's time for a photo break!

In this image, the watch was illuminated exclusively by the light of today's full moon (the reflection on the crystal actually is the moon).

The blurred lights in the background are the city lights of Vienna.
Shot on my rooftop terrace.
Shutter was open for 20 seconds.
This is still very experimental, but it seems to open a new field. True "Moonwatch" pictures!

I agree that a Daytona would be a much better buy at the current snoopy prices. If I didn't buy at the price i did, I would not have gotten it. I was able to have an AD buy at a great price and bought to wear it. Honestly, I love it!

Same again. I would spend my money on a Daysey before snoopy.
Personally i think prices will settle as demand settles. However because demand will continually outstrip supply, prices will remain higher than rrp.

I think the best way is to sell on an auction basis. This would say what the price people are willing to pay. Start st .99 and let it go.

Problem is you spend 13k and get the same watch as the average guy gets for 3k (the regular speedy).

If i spend 13k I'd want 13k worth of watch
