Snoopy 3 Earth Disk Material ?

No one seems to wonder about the material of the earth disk in the back...
I like the watch and I paid full deposit at my OB, but I keep wondering if that disk is just a piece of plastic..
if that's the case for a 10k+ watch it just seems cheap...

and I never really understood how this work... I thought limited edition is limited production?

Asked and discussed many times in previous Snoopy 3 threads.

The earth disc probably isn't plastic, but probably printed cheap brass.

I have read the entire thread regarding to limited production, but this is the first time being confirmed by omega. On their website it says its not a limited production watch but in this video he said it is.

Given sufficient magnification, anything will look like crap. Diamond polished parts looking like they were cut out with a hack saw.

under the same magnification of this watch I highly doubt that....

Yes, limited production as they can only make a certain number of watches a year and not infinite as already said...

Btw, what image of the earth are they using on the caseback? Doesn't even look like the earth to me. Looks 100% ocean without landmass anywhere and covered in clouds. Never seen a photo of earth from space look like that. Wish it rotated once every 24 hours rather than every minute...

Having done no research on the other threads of this topic, I would say the difference is LE is a set number to be produced (purposely special), while limited production is a reduced volume compared to mass production of the standard issue Speedmaster, but with no set production limit in mind. Could be that it’s simply more expensive to make these models vs. the standard Speedys.

Astronomically speaking, you can see the Earth spinning this way only observing it from the North Pole

Here's another image, this from Omega's website:

The Earth has a non-descript appearance in that it's not possible to discern what part of the globe is facing the camera, you just see water and cloud cover, without any green or brown. There are plenty of NASA photos of Earth from space from Apollo 13 or earlier that could have been more visually interesting. Does anyone else see what looks like a dimpled surface in the dark blue areas of the earth disc?

The way it rotates it should be a view directly looking down on the North pole.

Very good point, and the moon couldn't be in the foreground.

Yes, I do see the dimpled surface upon closer inspection. Maybe that is supposed to represent landmass with mountain ranges? Doesn't look like any part of the earth if that is supposed to be landmass.

would've been nice if they use some sort of earth looking gemstone... something like kyanite that's not expensive to get but a natural gemstone

Like the, rhodium plated, cheap brass used in movement plates?
