Omega Enthusiast posted this on Instagram. Has anyone seen an Omega dial like this before? Do you think it's legit?
Maybe some sort of a custom rare request by someone fancy/rich ? Weird that they didn't add golden minute indices... A shame if you ask me. It could be plausible if it's all 18K gold.
Snake skin boots baby, put em on your feet. Got the good time music with the Bo Diddley beat. Who do you love? ...... that dial! I could totally own this.
I would not be surprised if it is genuine. Every years I discover dials I have never knew existed and they turn out to be real.
I would hope that an extract from the archive would shed some light on the background of this watch. Certainly very unusual.
Someone asked him if he was going to get an extract from the archive in the comments of this post. He didn’t respond. Oddly enough, he usually “likes” most people’s comments. This one went unliked by his account. Perhaps he didn’t see it, or maybe it rubbed him the wrong way? There is not a lot of additional info to be gleaned from the comments section. He does verify it is not actual snakeskin. Maybe that’s obvious to most OF members, but it wasn’t to me at my first glance.
I was gonna say the same...it does resemble a honeycomb probably more than the actual honeycomb dials we see.
Maybe the dial's made from juma, commonly used in pool cues. Here are images of raw juma stock from an eBay seller. The ring towards the left of this photo . . . . . . is cut from juma, a plastic configured to have the appearance of snakeskin. In pool cues, rings separate sections of wood. This particular cue has rings made from juma in four places, three on the handle and one on the shaft. Art
While I’ve never bought anything from The Omega Enthusiast, his stuff always seems to be spot on and original. I trust it.
Oh yeah. Like how seiko replaces the SKX with different themed versions. This was omegas early attempts at the urban model.
