SMPc Blue-dial Strap Options for Business Casual - HELP!

Hi Folks! Not a fan of metal bracelets (comfort reasons), and the rubber blue looks too sporty for office wear. Trying to get a consensus as to which strap on fold-over clasp would look a bit more business casual yet go well with the rich blue of the dial. Have the option to change strap stitch color too. Any suggestions? Options: Ostrich brown, ostrich gray, alligator blue, alligator navy. Many thanks for your help!

Some sort of a blue leather is probably going to work with almost any outfit. I like blue and brown together, but if you are trying to observe some sort of fashion rule regarding matching belts and boots, something to keep in mind in terms of shade of brown.

You could also consider something like sailcloth, that runs the line between Rubber and leather in appearance.

And lastly a blue NATO strap would look pretty good as well.

Dressing down the SMP is a challenge, it would be easier with an AT or Globemaster. I think a Nato would work great for you, or you could try a contrasting brown leather. IMO calf rather than ostrich or alligator, not to have too many lines or wrinkles together (waves on the dial + pattern on the strap).

I know you said rubber was too casual, but I have to disagree. Perhaps 30 years ago, but today you can find a rubber strap on a white gold Rolex Daytona. I would consider the blue Aqua Terra rubber strap, which looks more up market than the standard divers rubber strap.

It is a dive watch, steel/rubber only. Thus, wear it correctly at the weekend.

In work if you can’t hack it get a work watch to suit.

All the pictures above are just wrong.

If I recall you do actually wear your watches and diving, which is why you don't like ceramic bezels, is that correct?

I do think ceramic makes a huge difference in whether or not something is truly a tool watch or, a modern "style watch."

As far as divers on leather is concerned, I'm completely comfortable with it under some circumstances. I know for a fact that I can pull it off and it looks exactly right, but I definitely have seen people that can't and it looks wildly wrong. So YMMV.

I think the conventional rules have been so blown out of the water at this point, the only thing that matters these days is whether the wearer likes the strap/bracelet combination or the watch/clothes combination.

Personally, I would not wear a dive watch with a suit, but most people would. Personally, I would wear a dive watch with a leather strap, but most people wouldn't. But I don't care what anyone else does with their wrist or their money.

I would wear my summer blue heritage with a suit, it'snot  exactly a sports watch. I would not wear a modern ceramic SMP with a suit, because it is exactly a sports watch.

Oh, and my rules are the only rules. 😉

I blame James Bond. I mean seriously, a dive watch with the tuxedo? Shameful!

In all seriousness, I think the most appropriate watch James Bond ever wore (at least in the Omega era) was the Aqua Terra in Skyfall. A modest 38.5mm. A dressy watch with the robustness of 150m water resistance. Appropriate with a suit just as much as it was appropriate with jeans and a waxed Barbour jacket in Scotland.
