You have a true one of a kind there. The GW had the Speedy style 1610 bracelet from the factory (though in fully brushed mode its known as the 1611/931). On that one someone has fitted the Bond style 1503/825. I can't tell if it has been custom brushed.

Yes I realised the bracelet is non original, but I actually prefer the fit to the speedy bracelet of which I've owned a couple so no biggie. As a bonus it did indeed have the box(I didn't think it had one) and got it down to €2,000 which I was happy with as was my target price.

Must say I think this is the watch I've been most impressed with out of any of my watch purchases, it's amazing.

First time I've made such a purchase on holiday, but I'm thrilled! My god I love this watch.

I once bought a beach blanket while I was on vacation. You guys have a LOT of disposable income 😁

Congrats, cool summer watch!

Hahaha, I have to be honest I don't have it, but Ido have credit cards, tapas and beers. Plus a missus in a very understanding mood being on hols.

This is a one off.

I recently picked this up as well and wore it all holiday. This is a great watch and my first jumping hour GMT. My only complaint is that the diving extension has a tendency to pop open while I am putting the watch on -- something I've never need to worry about with my Speedy!

There may be a way to tighten up the extension. One of my SMPs does this but never bothered to try an dfix it as it doesn't happen all the time.

There is, open the bracelet up closest to the divers extension just as though you are removing a link. Be careful as just like the links there is a tube inside. Once open use a screwdriver to gently prize the opening(the opening part of the section that now looks like a keyhole)further open. The aim is to open it enough that is a snug fit when you insert it back into the bracelet opening(there shouldn't be wiggle room). If you got it right it will now snap back into place nicely.

Hope I described it well.

Back from my hols and feeling the blues. What's a man to do(aside from getting a brew going)? Try some straps on the Great White of course!

Well make that a strap, looks so nice I decided to leave it at that. Let's see some other examples you lot have tried....

Would love to see it on the Speedy Snoopy strap, can imagine that would look killer.

What is it on that caseback? I'm guessing it's a group of islands such as the Caribbean? And those around are some sort of flower or leaf from said destination. Did you get that done yourself or was it a special edition?

The caseback has a medallion of enameled glass featuring the logo of professional surfer Jerry Lopez. The logo includes three hibiscus flowers and a map of the Hawaiian Islands. Lopez was most active in the 1970s and 1980s when he was known as "Mr. Pipeline" for his pioneering mastery of the big pipeline waves on the north shore of Oahu. The watch was marketed by Omega exclusively in Japan.

Lopez in his prime.

I love the Great White. At the moment I have a black gmt but at some time in the future would love to add its white brother. Here is Mr Black trying to be like its 2254 sibling.

I pulled the trigger on one yesterday. Been after a GW for a while. I have the black dial 50th and use it extensively when travelling back and forth across the Atlantic. Very pleased with it. It def wears bigger than the 50th. I think the white dial also contributes to that. Took me a while to get used to all over brushed case. And the silver finish to centre of hands had me squinting! Crown is slightly different and screws in further (1mm??).

Think I might stick on a Nato for holidays. Any ideas on what colour scheme?

In my opinion, The only thing that keeps the great white from being “perfect” is it needed a thicker black outline on the markers to make them stand out, similar to the hands. In a similar way the The Rolex Explorer II has back around the dial markers. Speaking of holidays, a red and green striped nato might work well with that dial.

I also like the single tone bezel (rather than the black silver 6/18 split of the regular GMT).

Nice mini comparison. I too have owned both black and white GMTs. And virtually every other SMP variant. While there is an acknowledged depth difference in the W & B cases, I think the crown difference you have seen is purely that one or other had a more compressible gasket. I am sure our resident expert Al would confirm that the crown is the same part. I haven't invoked him here since I have recently bothered him about another more pressing personal SMP matter and don't wish to wear him out!

I agree. And black around date window. Somehow the dial is not as easy to read on first glance as the black one. And the lume is a less vivid green on the white. It’s a shame it’s not tritium. These would look lovely with an ageing orange brown hue.

Eveyone's gone SMP crazy. Here's my 'one' watch SMP collection as of today... live by the sword!

SMPc with milsub hands from a 165.024, 2231.50 Ti with black dial swapped for electric blue, 2895.50 Apnea, 2230.50 NON-AC, 2254.50 with NON-AC dial, 2534.50 on OEM rubber.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but how do you like the Apnea? I'm starting to really want one, but haven't been able to see one in person. Pro: I think it would be fun to time things with the dots; Con: it'd take most of my watch budget for the year for a very niche design.

Congrats and welcome to the Great White club(hey that sounds a bit racial!!!).

Regarding NATO, I wear mine on a silver grey quite a bit which I personally think looks great. I plan to treat myself to an Omega one but can't quite decide which, I'm liking the white with single red stripe but that's a bit summery for now, also tempted by the black with single white stripe. Too many choices.
