SM300 Bezels - Aldo vs. Rene

I am thinking about getting my SM300 bezel restored and have seen both Aldo and Rene mentioned in various posts. I was hoping to get thoughts and photos going in a single thread for easier reference.

Price, communication, and various logistics issues aside - who do you think does a better bezel restoration? Which one looks more true to the original?

Photos of course are welcome and would be very helpful to compare! Thanks in advance.

I would go with Rene...

go with rene cuz:

- you will get it back in your lifetime
- easy communication
- correct concave shape (aldos are convex as far i've seen)
- correct font
- correct uV behavior (no reaction at all by aldos)

so u get the look and feel of the correct ones but you can never sell a "true " vintage

I believe he is saying you should ask both refinishers for pictures of their work.

I don't think this is what op is asking about. In fact the point of this thread is antithetical to your suggestion. He is asking for members to share their user experience not compare marketing photographs. Sometimes meaning gets lost in translation and I suspect that you didn't understand what was being asked, the alternative would just be too sad for our community.

I thought about that as a possibility. But then I thought, why would @watchyouwant make such a bizarre suggestion. I think @bigsom said it better above than I could have.

I'm not going to speculate on motives.

Overall, perhaps 6 months but it included a few months of "off" time that he had announced to me.

(These are old-tech digital pictures. i can reshoot with modern iPhone if someone needs a detail.)

Re-lume and case refinish also by Aldo?

I purchased mine with a Rene one and I really liked this finish and fonts.

the seller also told me his experience was very pleasant in dealing with Rene for what that’s worth.

I've attempted to contact both Aldo (through the website) and Rene (Via Instagram) and had zero response from either of them. Are they still doing the bezel rebuild on the 165.014? Are they still in business?
