Does anyone have an opinion about this watch? Seems to be a transition model somehow.

The bezel appears to be inverted. Is that a fake or is anybody familiar with that kind of design?

The serial number seems to fit at least.

I have secured it for the time beeing but can still return it.

Bezel is definitely a repro and the hands are most likely from a 165.014. Polish on lugs looks wrong too.
All depends on price.

The insert font is wrong, that's why it's a repro. The knurling on the bezel is also incorrect.

If I remember correctly, 2913s and early 14755s had countdown bezels, which is why you'll see some authentic count-down bezels rather than the now-standard count-up.

Bezel

Among the eight variants produced, the first two typically features countdown bezel inserts, and the following six usually came with forward count bezels. The forward count bezel is used for timing the elapsed time of underwater dives, whereas the countdown bezel being used as a timer.

Where the countdown bezel inserts also used in the latter variants like this?

The hands can be correct for a transitional 14755-62

just noticed it's double stamped on the inner caseback as a 14755 and a 165.014 so maybe the hands are legit?
Not sure about this one anymore- beyond my pay grade 👎

...even if at the end everything was original ... the watch was meant to be an investment.

And I don't believe, that you would get such an exception from the norm profitably sold in the future, without getting it questioned a lot. That's by far to much stress 😉

You'd really ought to do thorough due diligence in advance before you go around buying pieces as "investment". Even if this double-stamped reference were to appreciate over the coming years, its condition alone would ensure that this particular specimen would not nearly appreciate as much, if at all compared to an exceptional example. The service crown, pitted gasket channel, and mismatched movement plates are all causes for concern. If I were purchasing this for my own collection, I wouldn't think of going near this piece unless it was priced as a parts watch.
Correct, exceptional examples do exist. You just need to have the self-restraint to save and wait until you spot one.

Double-stamping on Speedmaster casebacks usually indicates an "upgrade" up to that reference, so it's possible that the dial and hands of this 14755 were swapped to tritium 165.014 types. The bezel would also have been changed to a count-up, I suspect. Some time later, the dealer probably replaced the bezel and the dial to make the watch more presentable as a 14755.
