A rare double stamped Omega Seamster SM300 14755/165014 transitional model.

The watch is in superb condition and comes with an Omega extract dating the watch to January 16th 1964. The calibre 552 movement is also serviced by one of the best vintage watchsmiths in the country, Simon Freese.

The dial and hand configuration are correct for this early reference, as baton hands were seen at this crossover point. The watch was bought indirectly from the original family who were based in Scotland. The extract confirms a U.K delivery. A full service was carried out by Simon Freese Watchmakers when I bought the watch in April 2021. The 12 month warranty is in place until 09/04/2022 so there is almost 3 months remaining for peace of mind.

The watch is in very good vintage condition and the 39mm case remains sharp and has its original crown. It is still well defined with nice chamfers and lugs. The plexi is also original with no cracks. The case back has a very sharp 'Hippocampus' engraving indicating it may have been worn seldomly. As mentioned previously it has a very interesting double stamped caseback showing 14755-62 with 165014-62 beneath. The extract confirms the correct time for this to be regarded as a 'transitional' piece. The dial is is mark free with original hour plots that have aged with a lovely vanilla patina. The hands were relumed during service as the original lume was cracked quite badly and match the dial perfectly. Please note the bezel is repro, and this was carried out by our own specialist bezel maker Roger, aka @mcgyver . Unless you are very well informed and examine SM300 bezels with a loupe, it is unrecognisable from the original. The watch comes on an original 19mm Tropic strap and these were an option when they first sold.

Overall this is a very nice and hard to find example. Early Seamaster 300 are getting very hard to find in this condition and with its double stamp they are seldom seen for sale.

Please use all the high resolution photos provided as they form part of the description. Sales are final unless incorrectly described.

This month I sold 3 watches. So for a short while I had the funds. But then I bought 3 new watches. Damn...
