Six weeks and Six days

Six weeks and six days ago was the last time that I wore a watch, six weeks and six days ago was the last time that I partook in an alcoholic beverage and six weeks and six days ago our life was thrown into another dimension.

Almost seven and a half weeks ago the city went into lockdown due to Covid, six weeks and six days ago on a Monday night and totally unannounced ( I was probably half way through my third bourbon😀) they carried out Covid testing for the residents of the houses in our street. My wife had had a cough for a few days and didn't feel great but the thought of Covid never crossed our minds as I had developed the cough but was otherwise fine. Well my wife and son tested positive which meant immediate quarantining of our house entailing red and white tape securing the front and a number of signs on the fence and gates as well as a guard placed across the road to ensure nobody came or went.
The following afternoon they returned, threw a couple of hazmat suits through the gate which my wife and son had to don before they were taken away in an ambulance to a Covid facility.

The house was quarantined for three weeks with the aforementioned guards ensuring the rules were obeyed. The day after my wife and son went my symptoms ramped up as I launched into a healthy bout of Covid and home alone. I must admit I have been very lucky, the worst of it only lasted for about two weeks one which I really can't remember, I have never been so drained of energy in my 61 years on the planet and if you want to lose weight rapidly Covid is the ticket.
My wife got quite a bit sicker than me and at one point was actually concerned about her life, fortunately our son was totally asymptomatic throughout so he could look after her.

Eighteen days after leaving they returned home and we had to endure another week of full isolation. We are both recovering well, consider ourselves extremely fortunate and had our first vaccination a week and a half ago.

Today I am finally wearing a watch and it is the Speedy that I have owned the longest.

Haven't had a drink yet, I have thought about it a couple of times but each time for reasons I can't explain I tell myself I am not ready. Maybe soon.😉

Tomorrow we go into a ramped up lockdown where we are not allowed to leave our houses and a designated person can go out on a designated day and time to a designated supermarket to buy supplies.

They are not stuffing around this time:

I am back and very grateful and happy to be so.

Goodness me, glad to hear you and your family are okay, what country is this? Certainly as you say they’re not “stuffing around”.

Hi Syrte,
It is Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. They were the poster child of Covid management but like in so many countries the majority of people can't grasp the concept that the virus can't move by itself, it needs people to move it. At least during this upscaled lockdown they are ramping up the vaccination programme.

Alas this new Delta variant is a whole new deck of cards, whether regimes are authoritarian “muscular”’ones or liberal.

As a confirmed fan of your "Pets" thread contributions, I'm putting this info together with what you posted earlier over there. Now we can see you are one tough cookie as well as a sentimental animal lover, and I'm so glad you all - especially wife and son - made it through. Stay strong, good luck to you all.

What a terrible ordeal.
I’d be Barking Mad for real if I faced this mess.
So glad you are all recovering.

Very glad that you are all well. This isn’t something to mess around with.

Hopefully no long haul symptoms persist.

Cheers, Al

Glad to hear that you are recovering. It is certainly an ordeal that I hope we never have to go through in this little country town. We still have a large number of halfwits here refusing to obey the (by the rest of the world standards) quite liberal lockdown laws here. They just don't seem to grasp the fact that this situation is real.
Good luck and speedy recovery.

What I want to know is: who lives in all those cages ???
Our house is somewhat of a menagerie consisting of birds, dogs, cats and fish.
It is in fact only one cage that has been extended three times due to the little buggers continually breeding. We started with five budgies and now have 22.

In another aviary, Gouldian Finches. Also from Australia.

Mango lives inside. Beau Having a chat:

Downstairs Aquarium

Mancave Aquarium

And of course the cats

One reason I was ok to be at home alone. Who was going to look after these guys? I know no-one would care for them like us.

We’ve got our hands full with just two 🙄

BTW, both are over 42 years.
