Not a DJ of course, but my rich man's 1016 (that's for you @jfmiii ) which at 36mm has the feel of a DJ but the look of a sport model.

My 1970 1601 YG with Slate Dial, bought it last year in Hong Kong for special occasions.

This one was an impulse-buy on an unexpected lunch near a great vintage Rolex shop and it turned out to be one of my fave's, a 1967 1603 in fantastic shape with wide hour markers, wide hands, and that gorgeous sunburst dial. Yum.

1957 6605 with arrowhead markers, dauphine hands, 18K all the way.

Lastly, my 2007 Datejust Turn-O-Graph with white gold bezel, red seconds hand, and red date window. Had a good night at the blackjack tables out in Vegas, they gave me too many free drinks, I stumbled into the Caesar's Palace shopping mall at midnight, bought this at a Rolex AD. Gets a surprising amount of wrist time as my go-to dress watch.

This thread is going to cause me and Foo girl to kill each other. I want a grey dial DJ. She hates fluted bezels and their ilk. She wants me to get a smooth bezel or explorer. I love fluted or machine turned.

She is watching me type this and just said. " I give you permission to buy a Kermit"

Ok I'll keep her.

Thing with the Datejust is it sneaks up on you.

Somewhere along the way, while collecting Speedmaster's and Submariner's and Explorers I've managed to amass a collection of DJ's and I'm not quite sure how it happened. They're not expensive, the ones 40 years old look just like the ones made today, and they look great dressy or casual so long as you get the right color combo.

What I can say is that every WIS needs at least one dress watch in the collection for that occasional wedding, winter formal, or board meeting and there is nothing better than a Datejust with a fluted bezel on a jubilee bracelet. Not something you wear every day, we have tool watches for that of course. But find a DJ that sings to you, make it your special occasion watch you wear 5x a year, you'll understand. Tell the Mrs., they look just as good dressed-down on a strap too, the photo above is as casual as any watch gets.
