May we see your black gator? They were the original strap on many models.

Thank you. JLC seems to use a thicker padding on the Reverso straps than on the Master Controls...at least mine.

I think case aesthetics and the deployant buckles on the reverso demand a thicker strap. Pin buckles on the Master Control line. My gator strap on my MC is much thinner. It’s in the box as I use a Horween Shell Cordovan strap to dress it down a bit.

I have been offered this one. It appears to be an E 860 which has a big 38mm case. This is an uncommon model. The dial does not look mint but appears original. The case appears to be unpolished and is 10k GF. Difficult to get a movement shot as this is a front loader. Anyway, sorry for the poor pix. It is offered at $1K, should I snap it up?

I would definitely buy it if I were you!

What is more attractive to you (the OP), the watch or the price? If the watch, then buy it. If the price, then wait for a watch you really love. Buying anything because it is cheap is not a good idea. What would $2000 get you?

It would certainly be a flip because it doesn’t speak to me. And I know that means that I have to pass because it will be a money pit. Also, the crowns are not original, so that means that it is not just an unappealing dial I’d have to look at..

My brother's actually...a gift to him from our father in 1963. It has the Valjoux 72 movement, the case is 18k. Everything is original. The lug/spring bar arrangement is the strangest I've ever seen.

Female springbars were pretty typical on these older chronographs.

How old? I've never seen them or heard of them before.
Females have been around a long time and have proven to be difficult.

1944 Travel Clock (JLC) is now back in action, had cause to open the safe today and it was the first thing that caught my eye and I immediately felt it should be in use 👍
