The more I wear the ST1 the more I enjoy and appreciate it. All its surfaces, including hands, pushers, crown and buckle, are brushed, the only polished items are the Omega logos on the dial, crown and buckle, everything else is brushed in an aluminum-like luster. Since there are only 2012 pieces many people haven't been able to actually handle one, and many pictures don't really showcase that aspect. It's a real sleeper in the Speedmaster LE line.

I have it on a Genteel brown racing strap with bronze stitching, a very easy watch to wear on all occasions.

Well,

I think that this is more likely to be a SpeedyMars? #speedytuesday

The new 2021 sapphire sandwich on its factory bracelet and Snoopy 2 cordura strap. This is my 4th approach to Moonwatch themed piece -> I had previous version sapphire, then the FOIS, then Apollo 8 just for a month, now back to more or less classic.

Hello! My first post - I still can't quite believe I own a Speedmaster! I work in the aerospace industry (just a pixel pusher - although I do get to see some cool stuff) and I've been a space enthusiast since I was a kid. I've always wanted one, but never for a minute thought it would happen. I love that the Speedmaster design is a genuine classic that looks amazing through the changing lens of fashion throuought the decades. Truly timeless.

My 50th birthday was coming up and my wife wanted to get me a watch. I'd been a fan of the Seamaster 2254.50.00 since it came out, but never had enough spare cash to justify getting it. I was thrilled, so I instantly started scouring the second hand market for one... Which is how I found my Speedy (turns out feature creep is just as bad with watches as it is with cars). This was a whole new level of want - a Speedmaster. Wow. I had a bit of bonus left, so made up the difference.

I'm a fan of the 1450 bracelet, so I picked up the Uncle Seiko version as a daily basher strap whilst I'm scraping it around a desk all day. Looking forward to picking up a brown leather strap for it too.

I just wish I could have owned one when I was younger, complete with the dings and scratches that tell a life's story. My son will get to do that when it's his turn to own it.

Thanks for reading my waffle, and thanks to everyone who has posted useful info on this forum, it was a valuable resource while I was looking for the right watch.

Both Speedy and 2254.50 are great watches.
Congrats on yours, it looks brand new from the pics you posted.
As a space enthusiast, that was obviously the best choice.

Not a big deal that you didn’t get it when tou were younger. The most important is that now, you have one. It will take your dings, your scratches and you history.

Congrats
