Nice strap. Is that an Omega strap, or aftermarket? Trying to find one I like, thanks.
Looks like a “president” strap. Awesome look though.

What model watch is this? It's awesome!

Eric

OK - not a Speedy moon but parts of this one has actually been in space and it is essentially a moonwatch - apart from dial, hands, caseback and crystal.

only problem is they are caught up in the Rolex madness. I’ve seen these (asked, not sold) up to 57k on C24. With most being in the 30’s. Smh.

Hi all,

Thanks for having me here. My name is Tim and I received my personal holy grail yesterday. I'm working in human spaceflight, first as an ISS Operations Engineer where I also served at Mission Control Houston and now still as a consultant. Since graduation my plan was to buy myself a watch from my first income as a personal gift for having it done. As you can imagine, when working in the space industry and in particular human spaceflight where I was in contact with our Astronauts all the time the choice was pretty clear: It will be an Omega Speedmaster. But often enough life has its own plans and fulfilling this dream was denied by expected und unexpected events. So I kept working, many times long hours, became self-employed and worked even longer hours. Over months and years I even forgot about my plan: I was too busy and budget was simply too tight. Then, for quite a long time, after my decision to become self-employed, I had to keep my expenses at the absolute minimum and worked three jobs.
But eventually, after 10 years of work I finally got it. An Omega Speedmaster. Grey Side of the Moon. Meteorite. I do realize it is not the original Moonwatch but that's by choice. I chose so, because as badass the original version was, and also the flight controllers back in the days, I'm different. I like enhancements of well-proven technologies into something modern and prefer automatic calibres. And I love the fact that I'm wearing a piece that partly originated from outer space and goes back to the days when our solar system was formed. I will never sell it and pass it on to one of my daughters (I guess I need to buy at least one more watch).

I will follow along some threads in this forum and will start enjoying my personal holy grail!

Tim
