Some of the coolest watches ever made. I’ll start with my 1958 Ranchero 2990.

😗
Nice collection of Seacheros! I also have the one on the far left. Seems to be a more common variety in Japan than elsewhere.

They say that the white dialed Rancheros are rarer than the black dialed version, but that hasn’t been my experience. They are all very difficult to find in good original condition, but black dials are especially tough.

To me, the white dialed real 2990 Rancheros with the black tipped Lume markers are a lot more stylish than the black dialed versions.

I prefer the hour markers on the black dialed version. They are simpler than those on the white dialed version and I think that they go better with the overall appearance of the watch. They also patinate to a beautiful pumpkin-rust color that really pops against that black dial.

Latest arrival, ref. 2937.
Don't think the 2937 or 2938 (which is the centrum second version) have ever been Ranchero's so also not really a "Seachero" either with the Seamaster dial.

I could be wrong but I thought it was only the 2990 and 2996 that originally came with the Ranchero dial.

That was my thought at first, but when typed 2937 in google, most of them are marked as Seacheros. There is even one earlier in this thread. 😕

No right or wrong here just personal opinions since there is no real ”Seachero” model at all.

But in my opinion the only ones I call Seachero is the 2990 or 2996 that originaly had a Ranchero dial but was swapped to a Seamaster dial instead, they also often have a special font Omega logo that differs them from other Seamaster dials.

The 2937 above is not a Seachero for me either even thought it has a black Ranchero styled dial, just a very nice 2937 Seamaster with a cool dial 😀

I believe that reference 2937 is a Seamaster case. It preceded the Ranchero 2990 case. The “true” Rancheros are references 2990 and 2996. My understanding is that when those two case references were manufactured with Seamaster dials owing to poor Ranchero sales, they came to be nicknamed Seacheros.

Again: There is no Omega Model called "Seachero". Somebody made that up to spice up early Seamasters.

Agreed. No such model in the Omega catalog, but the moniker does refer to a watch with certain characteristics, chief among them being a Seamaster dial in a 2990 or 2996 case.

No. It is not. It's either a Ranchero or a Seamaster.
Nobody is saying that the Seachero is an official Omega model. It’s a nickname that stuck for a watch with certain characteristics. You need only look at the history of the Ranchero’s poor sales and the Omega lexicon from many sources including OF to understand how the Seachero came about. It’s not a Ranchero and I think that I’ve made that clear. But I don’t think that you can ignore the fact that the term “Seachero” is well understood among Omega collectors. Most Individuals with some knowledge of Omega’s history know what it means.
