I have a dozen or so Accutron and Accutron-Quartz, but this is my only Omega “hummer”. F-300 DeVille chronometer. Don’t wear it much. Too small. It’s on a generic buffalo hide strap.
Here are my two favs. One is a 198.0030 with a replaced gold dial and the other is a 198.0028. I like this blue one a lot bc the constellations on the dial. I have figured which one but it’s the only one I’ve seen with those on it. I have more but I’m still building them.
It is a lovely watch and the D-shape was what attracted me when I saw it on the Private Sellers page. Turned out the seller lived very close to me so it was a perfect transaction. Still enjoy wearing it.
Interested in buying one of these. Any recommendations? I understand Bulova licensed the movements out to Omega. Is that right?
This is right. Bulova licensed the principal to ESA. ESA sold the movement to Omega. The only exception are the Omega 1220/1230 Megasonic 720Hz. This movements where made by Omega without any license.
Yesterday I had to change the battery of my hummer. So it was a good time to take a picture of the movement. The Omega is a Seamaster 198.0012 from 1973 or 74 with Omega Calibre 1250, but I think the hands are not correct. The watch runs great but I have problems with the calendar wheel. Here we go:
You are right, the Hands are too long. However, a nice watch. I can source a new date wheel with stem at 2 and window at 3, if you need one.
