I have been looking at the cone / volcano shaped 198.0011 Omega f300 recently, but am having problems finding one in very good/excellent condition. So, i thought about getting a Beta 21 Omega. I spoke to one hummer service person and he mentioned that he doesn't ever work on Beta 21 movements - ever!

May I please ask if finding a watchmaker to work on and finding parts for the Beta 21 movements is that much more difficult than finding a watchmaker to work on the ESA / Omega 1250 movements? I think it is relatively known that there are 3-5 or so watchmakers who are "go to guys" for the Omega 1250 / ESA movements, and they can do a lot for those watches. However, even though it is a small sampling, i.e. I merely asked one such service person, he said he has never worked on a Beta 21, which concerns me.

I am hesitant to buy one of those Omega rectangular Beta 21 watches now, even though they appeal to me similar to how the cone shaped 198.0011 Omega appeals to me - quirky, so very 1960s-1970s fun.

Thank you gentlemen in advance for your advice.

What county are you in? STS in the UK will service them, but it will be in the high hundreds.

Interestingly this watch has similar hands but it has another dial, but maybe this watch is also not original

Hi, I only just noticed this comment. Yes, having looked around a bit more I also doubt that the watch has the original dial. <Edited to add> In fact, you can see the same dial on one of the earlier posts here, though not the same hands.....

The hands are the same as this one

So probably a bit of a frankenwatch........
Probably explains the comparatively cheap price I got it for!

Something special today. An Omega f720 pocket watch (Ref. 198.1742).

As you can see, the special features are the see through case back and the modified wheel bridges. I don't know who did it, but it is well made.

Not an Omega, but here's my Eterna-Sonic with a nice running 9162 movement! Circa 1974.

Omega f300Hz Seamaster ref. 198.0016 on an original Swiss Tropic strap. Not the best condition, but a great daily rocker.
