Btw, the watchmaker mentioned that the crown is not correct and should be a bit smaller in thickness, not diameterwise. Is here someone that could help source the right one? Thanks!

Would this be the strap that came with the watch from the factory?

No its a modern aftermarket but has a nice brown tone.

Does any have an idea of which band came with the Airman?

Thanks, Alessandro.

Still needs a service so it doesn't get much wrist time. Pulled it out of the box to change the strap and admire it, even for a short while.

Hello, so I am a proud owner of a Glycine Airman No1 36mm GMT, my grail watch I saw this watch long time ago and never pulled the trigger then recently I was on the need of a GMT watch to track multiple timezones as my Rolex OP 36mm was also getting too many scratches being my daily wearer and not really useful any more.

I am not the type to wear watches that call your attention, why I went with the OP. Continuing, I bought a Timex Q GMT to be my GMT daily wearer, but I felt it was not enough and the dial did not lock so it was constantly moving, and then the airman pop in my view again and at a size that I loved which is 36mm.

So that is my story how I came to own my glycine airman.

Also I saw people here talking about bracelets for the glycine, I am a lover of the oyster bracelet. I havethe airman with a milanese strap I bought and love it, also purchased an oyster bracelet (not rolex) to try it out with the watch, but then I found this website that has some lovely bracelets and it has one very similar to the original bracelet the airman came with.

So have a look on them: https://forstnerbands.com/collections/full-collection?page=1

I am planning on purchasing some bracelets from them.

My current collection is very modest, and I love it, most my watches were gifted and some purchased.

Alpine Vintage (not sure the reference number)

Derrick B (not sure the reference number)

Timex Q issue GMT

Rolex OP 36mm

Wasn't aware if this. Something else to search for.

Congrats on the watch.

Some amazing watches in this thread. I'm currently schooling myself of the vintage Airman's and really appreciate the knowledge bank that is residing here. As I'm examining the evolution of the Airman's I have a couple of questions for the congnoscenti.

1. Around what year did the sweep hand change? I see some dials with the triangle markers at 12 and 24 with the later second hand but also dials without the triangles that have the straight sweep hand, like on the cover of the user manual.
2. did the dials change from radium to tritium around 1962 like Omegas did?
3. Did the crosshatch crown appear about the same time as the change to the AS movement
4. I'm struggling to discern which date window is correct. I see rectangles with sharp corners, rectangles with rounded corners, bulging rectangles... Was there more than one type of date window or os this and original versus service item thing?

Thanks Roan,

According to that the cross hatched crowns and the AS 1700/01 movement came when the EPSA compressor cases came in which it says is about 1965. That's one question ticked off if that is the consensus.

Here is also something I found more detailed.

I found it while researching on the old hacking mechanism the Airman had and found the website that explained it and at the bottom I found this gem of Glycine Airman Book
