Well, that’s great research.

I bought it on eBay a few years back. The starting price was £400 but no one else bid and I got it at that price.

I was worried that I’d missed something in the photos and that no one else bid for it because they’d all realised something that I hadn’t 😵‍💫

I think you did just fine - there aren’t that many of the earliest incarnation around anymore, it seems. 😀

Joking aside, by the way: Of course, many of the examples I listed on my sheet came from the sales here in the forum where people usually post movement pictures with visible serials. I deliberately didn’t list the names of the owners, but regardless: if someone here would prefer their example to not come up in this list drop me a PM and I’ll remove it.

You can use my example in the list if it is correct for you. It has the most vanilla dial (in my opinion). This dial variation was also used in the bigger reissue i think.
I have doubts about the case as it has a reference number from the early 50s but a thin lug case. What do you think about this?

13.72m serial is the earliest one I’ve listed with beveled lugs, yours is at 13,36m, so I have no reason to doubt the case style. Sub-reference sounds also good, as does the Seamaster-positioning at the bottom of the dial and the circularly brushed case back. Looks perfectly fine. 😀

Thanks for your comforting answer. I know that it is not in perfect condition. But i like the 2577 very much and if it is correct that is much more important to me.

Also, the duo of golf-ball dial.
Both of them come with serial no. 13,636,xxx
(the difference was only 2 among these)

Here is my humble offering of my 2577 found in a house clearance. Serial no.13,96x,xxx.it came with the bracelet in the photos. My watchmaker dated it to 1953 but i looked on the database it said 1952. 😀

Here is my humble offering of my 2577 found in a house clearance. Serial no.13,96x,xxx.it came with the bracelet in the photos. My watchmaker dated it to 1953 but i looked on the database it said 1952. 😀

I think that’s a 2767 (snap back)..

Ha! Lovely collection. Re the 354/beveled cases: the two changes didn’t occur at the same time, I believe, see the chart in my first post. I know of >10 examples that had a 354 but still the earlier lugs, and the serials are all earlier than the 354s with bevels.
