Why is this version getting desirable?

I think because they’re thin and slip easily under a cuff. Also, the black dial and sword hands give these watches real presence. Whilst the newer Seamasters are nice they’re too thick in my opinion.

I agree. The combination of easy under the cuff, wave dial, and the fantastic lume of the sword hands and big markers is hard to beat.

I was watched American Pie 2 (from 2003?) a couple of days ago and noticed that a cop with 3 seconds of screen time was wearing a 2254! (correct me if I'm wrong).
It looks to be a Bond bracelet, that makes it a 2054.50. Or the quartz 2064.50.

Now on eBay the lowest priced 2264 in the USA is 1999 rest in the 2000s
Why is this version getting desirable?

1. eBay asking price does NOT equal sales price. Click completed listings.
2. I have bought and sold several 2254's throughout the years. The price has always been slightly under 2k USD for no b/p or scuffed up examples, and a couple hundred over 2k USD for nice ones.

When adjusted for inflation, the watch has been deflating in value! I am shocked it has not become much more expensive personally, as it has been the same price for the better half of this decade!

I've seen them do nothing but rise in 6 months

The caliber 1109/1120 auto versions are about 1mm thicker than the quartz at most, so to me the 1109/1120 chronometer is a no brainer over the quartz. Good examples of 2254’s are currently over $1900/2000, even more the one with Non AC dial like the 2230.50 or the titanium versions.

I chose the quartz cause Ray Donovan and wanted a watch I could just throw on without resetting

My trusted 2254 wich I’ve worn for 10 years straight and now gets worn every now and then. Though every time I put this on I keep thinking I could wear it for another 10’years straight no problem I’ve put it on a Omega calf short strap(only one wich will fit my tiny wrist and keep the deployant clasp centered) . For me personally this is a very strong contender for that only watch . But then I look at my other Omegas and that thought quickly vanishes .

Here another variant of the Seamaster 22XX series: 150th anniversary SMP titanium 2232.30.00 with the non AC dial (2230.50.00) 18K white gold bezel insert (instead of the shiny 18K white gold bezel it came with):

@fskywalker That’s a great combo those 150th and electric blue dials really pop against the dull titanium. Interesting touch with the white gold inlay.

Love mine, when ever I have this watch in rotation outside the save I need to force my self to wear my other watches from time to time. It‘s just a perfect fit for me, hight/weight and size wise.

@alam Thanks the combi surprised me as well the first time 😀 I bought the watch from the first owner who then had it for a year, his wife bought him a Planet Ocean and this had too go. So it was almost new when I bought it, it's never gotten a polish and I know almost where all the nicks come from. It's complete with box and papers luckily. Before I bought this i bought a Bond 2531 and liked the bracelet and found it so comfy that I bought one for the 2254 as well. But somehow it in my personal opinion that bracelet is not the match for the 2254, wich is kinda strange because on my 2231 I prefer the bond bracelet over the speedy style bracelet. Only mechanical service once, and like I said it's due for another .
