路Update: I received the proper tools, one of which was a Bergeon rubber ball: That thing worked great and opened up the cases that the wrench wouldn't easily budge!
Although I do now have a movement holder, I'm curious how people use these to wrench open a case back without risking scratches to the face on the metal blocks. The holder seems designed to, well, hold a movement for servicing rather than act as a vice to safely grip a case. I know you're not supposed to crazy on the wrenching action, but it still seems like a plastic- or wood-block model might be less risky. Or I could see slipping some felt between the pegs to keep the watch face off the metal, perhaps?
