Not commenting on the general article, however regarding the watch for sale:

I think it’s a redial. S in Seamaster is the biggest tell for me, as well as the size of the tick marks and the positioning of Swiss Made. I used to own this dial variant - see below.

Also, case is heavily polished, crown is incorrect, and the buckle is a fake.

I believe that the website referenced by the OP and its proprietor have a reputation on this forum that precedes them. Nice long essays (although frankly a bit too up themselves stylistically for my taste), but some strange business practices. For example, I've heard that the watches advertised on the site have the interesting characteristic of being, er, not available from the site. If you're fairly new to the game, I'd say it's one to avoid. And if you're experienced - you'll know that already.
