A dealer over on VRF and TRF named JAMeyer posted a 5512 last year for sale for $9000. I frantically messaged him, even tracking down his bricks and mortar establishment but alas it was sold in under 12 hours.
Obviously undervalued but they are out there.

Mattedial5513 is a fantastic resource. The author John is a fantastic guy and willing to help with any queries you have.

My personal favorite 5513 is a meters first matte dial. Was available straight after the gilt era up to a 2.0m serial.

The guys over at TRF are really helpful, especially if you are a newbie, really great assessments,. My personal suggestion is purchasing one from a forum member over at TRF. Jacek is great but comes with a slight premium.
Michael Morgan is another reputable VR seller but a forum member is where you will get a deal.

TRF Trusted Sellers are exactly that. Any slight premium that one might pay is easily offset by the assurance that you are buying the real deal.

Totally agree if you are a bit green, but a little research and asking for help can also save you a few hundred dollars. For me this is part of the adventure and learning about the do's and dont's of your new acquistion.

The prices on these references, much like everything else vintage Rolex related, is skyrocketing. There seemed to be a point in time where the price for a nice, period correct 5513 had plateaued at around $6-7K, now you can't find one under $10K. The 5512, rarer than the 5513, is now rarely seen in the wild as I believe many collectors are hoarding due to the phenomenal price appreciation over the past couple of years.

All I have to say is, buy them while they're still "reasonable". I'm just glad I purchased my full set 5512 when I did when they were still reasonably priced and had plenty of inventory to choose from.

The 5512 and 5513 are some of my favorite references...the 5512 is the piece that got me hooked on vintage.
All are one owner watches I bought from the son or daughter, each came with a wonderful story. I think I enjoy the quest more than the watch 😀
1- 1968 5513 MF
2- 1967.II 5513 MF
3- 1972 5512

The 5512 was my first Rolex, and I was instantly hooked. Thanks to all the experts at TRF (including John long before he built his website) for all their advice I was able to find 3 very nice honest examples that became the foundation of my collection and obsession.

I'm about 5 yrs late to the 5513 party, finding one with a good deal of originality is proving very difficult. Dibs on any......if ever 😵‍💫

Well I thought I was late to the party at the time...paying 5-6k for an old watch seemed like crazy talk.
