Shipping from GB to USA

I've read the shipping thread from top to bottom - there's some great info there for sure.

Does anyone have any recent experience/advice for shipping from GB to USA? Given all the recent events (the past 18mos), I just wanted to ask if there's anything new to consider, or any new advice anyone might have to share.

TIA

I had used Parcel Force in the past to send watches up to £2500 insured value to the US from the UK - at some point in 2020 they removed watches from the list of items that they will insure.

Which is a pain.

I use fedex and insure separately with secursus. Double box it and follow all the terms and conditions.

I have a package in transit from UK to USA currently w/FedEx, I can let you know from the delivery side if anything seems different or unusual. First one in the last 18mos for me as well so am curious.

For gods sake don’t use Royal Post. Huge disconnect with USPS in tracking.

I had a package (Scurfa MS-21) shipped earlier in the year from the UK to the East Coast. Paul uses DHL, which used to mean about three days from order to delivery. While the delivery was made (after DHL handed the package off to either USPS or UPS), there were a few days of disconnected communication in the middle. Suddenly there were no updates and both DHL, and the other shipper, pointed at the other when I asked both of them about it. It got better once the second shipper got their act together and started updating tracking.

In the past, I had no trouble with DHL. I'm not sure if they simply changed their arrangements or if the CV fallout caused it. Either way it was mildly distressing for a few days.

So the package I mentioned a couple of hours ago just arrived. Left the UK July 14 arrived in California July 15 after a (very) quick customs clearance in Tennessee so at least on this one FedEx did an outstanding job from my side.

Do not use anything that ends up in the hands of USPS, they lost 2 out 3 packages that I had coming from Europe.
Not technically lost but still in transit after 8 months.
