I found this on the CDN website ... QVT. Thought it was a nice concise summary. Thanks to Sao, the owner and watchmaker ..... Super helpful fellow and very patient with those who wish to learn. I'm not promoting his site, but just giving credit where it's due for this info.

DATE SETTING ADVICE FOR YOUR VINTAGE OMEGA:

• Caliber 353 and 355 – There is no quick set feature on these very first calendar calibers.
Each date will advance by turning hands every 24 hrs. The date can be set forward or backward depending on how you turn the hands.
Turning the hands clockwise will allow you to set the date forward.
Turning the hands counter clockwise will allow you to set the date backward.
For instance, if the date is ahead by a few days it is better to counter clockwise turn the hands.

• Caliber 502, 503, and 504 – There are two ways to setting the date for the following calibers.
You can set the date by turning the hands every 24 hrs for each date to advance.
Or, you can turn the hands until the date changes and then counter clock turn the hands to around 11pm.
From here, turn the hands back to 12 midnight and the date will change once more.
Keep doing this until you get to the correct date before setting the time.

• Caliber 560, 561, 562, 610, and 611 – There are also two ways to setting the date for the following calibers.
You can set the date by turning the hands every 24 hrs for each date to advance. Or, you can turn the hands until the date changes
and then counter clock turn the hands to around 9pm. From here, turn the hands back to 12 midnight and the date will change once more.
Keep doing this until you get to the correct date before setting the time.

I'll add to that the Cal 1480/1481 which has a quick set button where the crown gets pushed in to advance the date. Granted, its not possible to do this when the hours hand is between 11 and 3 clock.

Not 100% but I think think I remember by my 560 and certainly my (565/752) being quick set by toggling the crown between 2nd and 3rd positions.

Definitely the 752 - pull stem out and back in to advance date.

Which is why I am happy to keep the service crown on my Connie!

Same thing with caliber 613. Pump-action date change - anything else is for girly men

560 date is set the two ways the OP described. No toggle between 2nd and 3rd positions...

Same with cal. 564 and 565 😀

My cal. 1011 Omega changes date when the crown is in in the second position (first: manual winding. second: setting time (hacking)) - turning counter-clockwise will advance the date, while clockwise will turn back the date one position.

My 563 also has the quick set by toggling between the 2nd and 3rd crown positions.

Why not just go here?

http://www.old-omegas.com

There are pictures from the original instruction manuals for most of these movements.

Good call...I knew I remembered seeing all the original instruction manuals at one point, but never saved the link. Appreciate it!
