For next round, may I suggest "characters from Honey Boo Boo"?
Please no! I'd rather see cute cat videos. 馃槣

Bill has a point. While I appreciate the suggestion Roger, we want something that will make other members laugh - not make them nauseous! 馃槣

Which segues nicely into 'cats covered in styrofoam'.

Is there a way to force people having an avatar before posting?

That's a question for the Architect - @Trev, are you able to do this? Or can we keep having fun with screwy avatars?

The swimming pigs are at Staniel Cay in the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas...

A truly beautiful place!

Best use of a cat I have ever seen!

Was just perusing the users online and noticed some of our early work - including this one that was so obvious it HAD to be done!

I still get a chuckle out of it. 馃槣

With a screen name like this, and a member since July of last year, this is a deserved avatar. 馃榿

Mods should assign new members who neglect avatar selection the common and universally recognized squirrel mask:

Forcing new members to choose an avatar might "scare away" those rare characters who come here asking for advice on some inherited watch - that would be a shame.

It might also "scare away" the less genuine one-post-wonders who come here asking for advice on their "uncle's heirloom" and then are never seen again. This is a permissive forum with very few rules, one of which is that you need to have an avatar. The quality of content on here seems to be far greater than most watch forums and this is a very small price to pay.

Ooooo, sarcasm. 馃憤 You forgot to surround your text with [sarcasm] and [/sarcasm] so we could tell by the font you were being facetious. 馃槈

Damn.. I'm a pom and we're supposed to be savvy with our sarcasm. I thought he was serious. I'd better go watch some Faulty Towers and practice more.

I fully agree... It is also some kind of personalizing you... Get a connection with the forum ans the members...

I find it somehow, how shall I say... If you don't have a avatar, it is like you not really interestes in the forum.

Leave them alone. I like having the occasional flare-up against them. There was even one who came back with "Thanks for the warm welcome. It was my father's pride and joy" or words to that effect. After 30 odd years in the building industry, I'm just gnarled and cynical. I don't do guilt/remorse and sympathy is something in the dictionary; somewhere between sh1t and syphilis.

That's why Dennis awarded me the "Honarary NJ Resident" tag that I consider a badge of honour.

Between flaming the one-post wonders and giving Dennis (and the rest of us) amusement with the girls eating salad, swimming pigs and budget cars, I think we also have a case for the status quo.

Hey, it's easy when you partner with The Google. Personally, I thought 'cats covered in styrofoam' and 'swimming pigs' were more funny.
