Very nice watch! I really like the circular brushing pattern of the dial, and really sharp lugs. We'll have to see if @alam will issue you a special dispensation for membership into the Cal 89 club. 馃榾

@ulackfocus one Special Dispensation just for you Dennis.... and @dougiedude is also welcomed..馃槣

I think you guys would be surprised at just how many excellent IWC specimens are owned by Omega Forum members.

Ooh, thread drift opportunity. Sharing my non-89 83:

Yeah, I know it's not a major drift as it's still in theme with Dennis' thread. So, to compensate and be true to classic (absurd) OF thread drifts, here's one of my favorite sketches of all time:

Yes, and your watch is part of a VERY exclusive IWC club - one of four pictured in a notorious article.

It鈥檚 here! A quick iPhone shot:

Just like Evan鈥檚 / gatorcpa鈥檚 watch from the same seller, this is rose gold and not yellow. It鈥檚 also a crisper case with a much cleaner dial - all the marks are on the crystal. 馃憤

My first and only IWC, a cal. 403 manual wind. I was attracted especially by the bracelet:

I have the same watch with the aftermarket IWC bracelet.

Great watches.

You too, Dennis!

Really lovely watch!

I love solid gold watches. You've gone and made me want an 18kt IWC with the caliber 89 movement.

Aren't you ashamed of yourself to be such a bad influence?

That looks even nicer than I expected.

Wow! I think you could shoot that beauty with a Polaroid camera and it would be stunning. Great watch!

Ashamed? Quite contrary - enabling nets me several bonus points!

Same thing I said when I opened the box and shot Evan a text.

And I agreed. Top notch example. Better than his last one (or is it two?).

I think this is only my second R521. The last one was very nice and pinker in color, around 4N pushing 5N, compared to this being nearer to 3N, but no where near as crisp as this is. This still has strong chamfers / facets on the ends of the lugs.

I did own an older ribbon / shark fin lug version before, but that was a different case reference with thinner and longer 'fins'.

Consider this your fair warning: I am BACK in the game as of tonight. I don't mean just posting on the forum as I've been the last few months, I mean back in the vintage watch buying world, and I will not be denied.... particularly when making up for past mistakes. Case in point: an IWC Ribbon Lug R521 caliber 89 freshly won from eBay:

This came from the same seller as the 2915-2 you're all oooohing and aaaahing about. 馃槈 I sold one of these a few years ago and have regretted it since. That one was rose / pink gold, while this one is yellow gold, but this example has the numbers at the corners and my favorite (Alpha) hands. Good thing the seller didn't note that it's 37mm or it would have sold higher with more interest. These wear perfectly on my wrist.

In conclusion, all you vintage watch novices had better get your shit together and be prepared to fight just a little harder for any gem you might think you've uncovered because a savvy veteran has come out of retirement.

@Angel @Tony C. @cicindela - whaddaya think? 馃榾 (Already chatted with Evan pre-purchase.)
Heeees baaack!
Belated welcome.

Hopping onto the band-wagon here. Seldom seen straight lug piece in 18k rose gold.
