Hello all,

2018 Speedmaster needs to go in for first service. Last time I looked into it, Omega wasn't doing in-boutique service, but sending back to Switzerland and months long back log due to COVID. Possible to do in boutique again? What's the lag time usually take?

Thanks for the help!

Where are you located and is it a cal. 1861, if so pretty sure these don't get sent back to Switzerland but to the nearest service center.

You could also check whether an AD near you has a certified watchmaker to service it or a local independent OSC.

3861 was repaired at a USA service center. I 'think' only 321 and vintage ones go to Switzerland.

A boutique will likely send it to a Swatch service center. An AD might have an actual in-house service department, but you will need to ask very specifically if it matters to you: in-house vs. off-site watchmaker vs. Swatch service center. Various ADs take different approaches, and they won't tell you unless you ask.

My boutique doesn’t have an in store technician, but he’s in training at the moment supposedly. I just had partial and full service done on two watches recently and the ETA on the partial service turn around’s time was like 3 weeks top with parts and water service done! Full service is still being worked on.

It’s weird, if you send your watch to the boutique they don’t update you on it’s status, but when I mailed my watch to the SGUS directly both times using registered mail, they email you a log in with status updates and ETA date on what they are working on.

My full service omega 300m supposedly had low amplitude or what ever that means, no complaints here.

Dealing directly with the service center would always be my preference.

I would never let an AD or OB serve as the middle man for a service. I always ship my watches directly to the OSC of my choice. I get updates every step of the way.

For a quick tune up, it’s sometimes easier, for a full service I do directly, one of my bracelet springs broke recently and they managed to replace it and tune it in a few minutes 😬😬

Swatch group has improved their services in my opinion in the last 10 years. I’m surprised they sent back the worn parts and crystal for example, it does has some weight to it!
