Hello all….I bought the GPS Solar Astron 50th anniversary exactly 5 years ago now and I love this watch and work it a LOT. Especially when I travel for my vacations.

After 5 years do I need to send it in for service?

It's a quartz watch, so there's less to go wrong from one perspective - no spring or balance for example. But the mechanical part can still get dirty.

Personally I probably wouldn't service it, but if you have access to a good watchmaker or to Seiko's official service, then why not?

Most of the people I know never service their quartz and even cheap ones last more than 20 years. And apparently some watchmakers don't feel like it's necessary unless the watch stops working.

I guess it's a personal opinion.

Sounds reasonable…thank you!
