Letting go of my 6217 World Time. Released for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, this was one of the watches that brought Seiko onto the world stage. It shares a movement with the 62MAS diver and is a sort of uncle to the 62GS chronometer: 18,000 bph and 17 jewels. These watches were produced for only 8 months, from March to November 1964, so May places it in the earlier part of the run. This watch is 38mm diameter, with a super clean and crisp case, scratch-free crystal, and caseback with legible Olympic flame logo (not always found on these). The white linen dial is mark free, but has a small area that is slightly out of flat at 2-3 o’clock. (This is not visible from most angles.) The 6217 automatic movement was serviced by the previous owner in 2019, and all functions work smoothly. The watch is running well and all functions work smoothly. I’ll include the service papers with the purchase. Comes on a blue Colareb strap which matches the dial wonderfully. This watch has such a great style and wrist presence, I’ve really enjoyed it. Selling because I’m drowning in watches and trying to slim the collection down to fit in a 10-spot box. Plus, I’m getting farsighted and I cannot read the timezone markers anymore!
