A very nice, all original example of this elegant, JDM-only chronograph, dating to December of 1971. This reference was offered for only two years of production, and featured the 6138B 23 jewel movement.

An excellent case with a clean caseback, and all with original factory finishes on all surfaces. Case measures 40 mm, less crown, and approx 44 mm from tip to tip on the lugs. Minor scuffs and scrapes appear, but reflect careful past use.

Top bezel has a ding nearest the crown, and crystal show some minor marks and scratches from use. I resisted the urge to replace these parts, but they are available on eBay if the new owner chooses to do so.

The cream colored dial is in excellent condition with no visible blemishes. Nice tritium lume at each index and on the hour and minute hands, and all appear in superb condition. Lovely silver Seiko Applied Metal Logo. The yellow tipped chronograph hand compliments the dial and stands out as an attractive element.

The JDM-only 23 jewel 6138B movement is running very well, with good timekeeping. All Chronograph functions work correctly, and it resets to zero smartly. Serviced while in my possession in 2018. Day wheel is in Both Kanji and English. This is an automatic movement with a hand winding option. Nice, unmarked screw heads in the movement are seen below. 7136821A-B8D8-4356-AC14-265FE3210F40.jpeg C03F51DD-10E1-4FC2-AB48-4B407B0E4FDA.jpeg

Strap is a lightly worn Seiko brown leather piece, which compliments the dial color very nicely.
This sale is part of a continuing reorganization of my collection. I’m building up a stash of “dry powder” for some anticipated future purchases.

Nice piece, and a very important piece to boot as these are arguably the first automatic chronographs.

love this colorway.
