Seeking advice for a 2639

Dear OF

I would like to pick your brains again. It's my first foray into the vintage manual winds - after I was assured by a member that I won't be missing the train 馃槈.

Jokes, aside, my prime hunt is for a an oversized ref with a honeycomb dial, but my screen yielded following interesting example that caught my attention.

It's a 2639-9 with the robust 265 cal. Though many of you wouldn't count it as a jumbo, it's still larger with 36mm than the more common 34-35mm. The case looks very sharp to me. The crown is signed and has the same shape as the example shown in the OVDB, I believe. The movement also appears clean to my untrained eyes or do I miss anything?

What I like about this one is the dial and its details: arabic 12, diamond shaped recessed other hour markers, and the subdial branded with Saurer, an old Swiss industrial conglomerate. I can hardly imagine that someone would make the effort of redialing such a dial, unless he/she is superfan of this company, but I'd like to double-check with you. What makes the dial somewhat suspicious is the fact that is very clean, too clean perhaps? And the different distances of the 5 and 7 o'clock hour marks to the subdial.

Other than that, the only flaws I can see are signs of corrosion on the minute and second hand.

As for the price, it's an auction currently running at EUR 264, but can be grabbed immediately for EUR 600. I'm not planning to spend that much for it though. An extra plus is the Omega strap and the Omega buckle. Not sure whether they are original, though.

Looking forward to your comments. Here come the pictures.

Never mind, somebody just paid the asking price.

In general, I think the 2639 is a very appealing reference, and I agree that they are nicely sized.

I understand this dimension is referred to as 'oversize.'
