Second Time Around Watch Co: Repair Experiences?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone here has used Second Time Around Watch Co in Beverly Hills for any kind of repair/service before, and if so, were you satisfied with the work? I currently have my Ebel 1911 chrono (1992, so not really all that "vintage" yet) for a repair/service at the moment. Have purchased a watch from them that they serviced prior to my purchase, and it hasn't had issues, but was curious of some of the experiences of others. Thanks in advance!

They are good guys and in my experience do a good job at a fair price. And when you stop by you can walk up to Anarbagh for a great meal.

I mailed it in as I'm not from California, but definitely would love to check out the store in person someday.

Update: The watch is back and running without issue, but there are some cosmetic issues resulting from the service. They added a few scratches to the 6 O clock subdial (have to really look to see them, but they are there nonetheless) and there is some dust on the dial. Mechanically it seems as though they did a good job, but the cosmetic issues are a shame. Won't be going back.

Sorry to hear about your experience, just seeing this thread now. Unfortunately I had something similar happen, not during a service but was in the neighborhood (years back before getting my own tools) and needed a bracelet sized. Something as simple as that resulted in a bunch of scratches. Really careless work. Would not deal with again.

Yeah, I had actually seen your post, but it was after they had started working on my watch, go figure. I had bought a watch from them and had no issues (they serviced it and had the dial refinished after I bought it, per my request), and did for the most part a flawless job (there are some bits of dust on the dial, but no unsightly scratches) so I had hopes all would turn out with this watch. Unfortunate for sure. Still a beautiful watch that I enjoy, but a shame nonetheless.

If you want a good West Coast watchmaker, you might look into using Kelly Hunter in Portland. He has serviced my watches for a few years and is very good. He works on some truly high end watches as well as my more run of the mill ones.

I am in the northeast, but there are very few watchmakers in my area, so I will definitely keep this in mind. I am dreading the day that my Valjoux 69 chronograph needs a service, as parts for that movement seem to be pretty non existent these days.
