Hi,

I am new to this world and I have just bought myself my first Omega vintage watch. Finally since I have dropped a couple of auctions before deciding to go for this one. Really excited to finally be an Omega owner! However a bit curious on what year it is from, details on the model and if you believe the parts are original or replaced (e.g. the dial)? The dial is 2-4-6-8-10-12 which seems a bit rare from the browsing I have done. The most similar versions I have seen online have the numbers printed on the dial.

Interesting also to hear if anyone know if there are any interesting anecdotes about this version. Your thoughts on valuation is also appreciated to see if I was within a reasonable range or out surfing.

The background information I have is that it is a 36.5mm Seamster from the 50s. Caliber 332, serial number 12415589, ref number 2493, watch case number 2493-1.

And I know, I definitely need to get a new strap as this piece is too shabby!

Thanks for your help - highly appreciated!

Sorry for image quality but the Omega trademark is printed on the crown:

Best,
Niklas

Nice watch – congratulations! I own a few 332 models, and like them very much.

It's nice, but the index at 3:00 has been replaced with a non matching one and you need a new crown

Can't tell if case is gold capped or steel

Congrats! If it's 36.5mm without crown, it's a less common "jumbo" version - most of these were around 34.5mm wide 😀
As @DON says, there is an odd index and I'm guessing that the crown is probably the worn down original where the gold cap has gone completely.

Your watch dates to sometime between 1950-51
The model was first issued in 1949
