i just get the feeling once rolex discontinues this model air king the prices are going to escalate because it's highly unusual.

you can define unusual by many means, and you can say the dial is shiny mess with all different sizes as well.

there was no reason to go with the enlarged 369 on this dial.. that was a very poor design choice. but truth be told..i think most of the newer modern rollies are heartless

You're not really comparing like for like, price-wise. At £5200, the Seamaster is £650 more than the AK, but only £250 less than a no-date Sub. I think that changes the choice dramatically...

you have 6K to spend and you had to pick one.

which one and why.

the LE seamaster is not only better looking but being that omega only made 3500 it could increase more, both short and long term.

the air king is ugly as heck with all sorts of numbers and crazy chit going on with the dial. but that's kind of the reason i like it. long term value should be good as well because it's unusual

what do you think?
Honestly sounds like you really love the Airking. I say go for it. It's def unique, plus anti-magnetic to boot.

you can actually get the seamaster for less.

i'm pretty torn. i would like both. a new speedy is an option as well at half the price

anyone see the new siduna. sharp looking bund esque new vintage chrono

This gen of Air King may be my least favourite mass market Rolex design in recent memory. They took their simplest design and made it their busiest, to its detriment to my eyes.

My thinking is this is type of “highly unusual” that won’t go up in value significantly in the long run.

Conversely the Seamaster would be my pick of the Trilogy.

i can't argue with this. dunno about future gains though.

i'm not really in position to buy the rollie as an investment to look it and hope it goes up. well, i could but really don't want to.

these trilogy watches seem like they're something special. and their more in tune to where my tastes are as well
