the LE seamaster is not only better looking but being that omega only made 3500 it could increase more, both short and long term.

the air king is ugly as heck with all sorts of numbers and crazy chit going on with the dial. but that's kind of the reason i like it. long term value should be good as well because it's unusual

Bypass the ugly airking and go Explorer I.

 

I usually think Rolex tends to make better looking more wearable watches compared to Omega (watches are a little thick) but in this case the AK is one ugly watch.

 

Seamaster trilogy without a doubt.

 

Air King is ugly and not in a charming way, so absolutely not for me. But I was left a little underwhelmed by the Trilogy watches – they're almost too close to the originals. One of the rare instances where I'd much prefer the "inspired-by" SM300 instead.

 

The one Air King I simply cannot stand is the one with the silver 3-6-9 numbers on the dial. I prefer watches with date complications, but the Air King is interesting even without the date. Love the colors, and the amount of colors. It's subtle. On the downside, it's basically an Oyster Perpetual with a different dial and crown.


The Seamaster 120 has my vaunted date window and is pretty close to the SM LE. I'd choose that. If I was deciding between only the Air King and Seamaster LE I'd take the Seamaster. But why limit yourself to just the Air King and Seamaster LE?

 

SM 300 trilogy for sure. Better looking and better movement too. But of course keep in mind this is omega forum so...

 

The Rolex OP looks much better than the AK. All of the numerals on the AK makes the dial look too busy.

 

I love my 1985ish Air King that I got at a Navy Exchange while TDY in Japan. I also love my almost brand new Seamaster Pro diver. Air King ugly? Not in my opinion.

that doesn't mean you can't make it cool, and take the ugly back or embrace it.....lol

 

Don't care for the AK at all, so definitely Omega, but do agree would be worth looking at some of the other Rolex options around the same price.

AK rocks but it's just a Milgauss pure and simple, with a new dial to fool the noobs. Makes me wonder if they brought back the AK model because they had a mountain of Milgauss parts they wanted to monetize... I like it, my brother has one that I keep threatening to take, but I'm not sure about the long term. Plus, it is very thick and heavy, like 2x my Explorer 39mm. Cheers

The 2017 Air King redux is a repackaged Milgauss. Technically it is an upgrade from the previous version which was for all intensive purposes a standard Oyster Perepetual. While the new Air King is hated by some, it is loved by others. Having seen them in the flesh, it does look better and a bit more muted on the wrist than photos.
