I know that Omega under estimated the popularity or just ran out of case backs for the 166.024 during production. The solution was to over stamp 165.024 case backs and use those instead.

I have never seen this though. An over stamped case back with Speedmaster on the back. Has anyone seen this before?

These have been discussed on the forum several times before. They're known to exist.

The precision we expect from the luxury watch industry today is in such a juxtaposition to what was happening in the 60s and 70s.

Whatever we have just get it out of the door!

It is interesting to note that these ‘Speedmaster’ casebacks were sourced from both CB and HF

I have one of these case backs. Do the markings imply it can be used on a Speedmaster, 165.024, or a 166.024 and be correct?

Not correct for a Speedmaster. Those references are for the SM 300 date and no date.
