Good morning all, I found this Seamaster in pristine conditions on eBay. Owner claims that it has been serviced by Omega for ≈ 600£, and as you can see from the pictures the dial, hands and case were replaced together with some other parts of the movement.
Now, the redial and the other pieces swaps are the price to pay to have a shiny-looking vintage watch, but the seller it's asking for 875£. Do you think it's worth the asking price? I feel like being massively restored really takes away some value from it.

EDIT: changed pictures with higher definition version

Those pictures aren’t working I’m afraid.

Can you try uploading them to the forum but also adding the eBay link

The reason it’s often suggested here to not have a watch serviced prior to a sale is that you’ll never be able to recoup the money.

This one might well have been serviced by Omega for 600£. Realistically I’d say it’s value is way below that. It’s a gold-plated, no-model-name Omega from an era that doesn’t exactly count as their most collectible. Hard to put a price tag on it with the service - while there might be people who pay more, I’d say about half the asking price could be realistic.

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. Thank you.

Not worth the £. There is a 166.003 in comparison that I got offered the same price as this you're looking at on eBay in the U.K. I've had a 10 series movement and as been said, they're the worst era to buy.

Why is it so?

Quartz crisis lead Omega to cut corners and use cheaper 3rd party parts. I mean, even the date disk is made from plastic.

$100USD is too much for me, especially with that big 'ol honker on the side.

It is incredibly strange to me that someone paid £600 to have this entry level piece restored and then chose to sell it. Terrible judgement on their part. At your budget for a gold-colored vintage Omega, I'd recommend patiently waiting for a gold-capped example in good condition. They're not terribly uncommon.

Is it me or does the crown look like it protrudes from the case excessively?
