Hello users,

My name is barry and im the new owner of an omega geneve 166.0202 1012. The movement doesnt look genuine to me, it also has no serial. Could you guys give me an opinion about the following photo’s ? I paid 500 euro’s for it. Its my first vintage, maybe ive been to greedy. Thanks in advance guys.

It’s perfectly genuine. The movements Omega fitted in the 1970s look cheap and crappy but actually work well if maintained properly. However, I see some rust on the swan neck regulator spring so this may not necessarily be the case here ie the maintenance may have been lacking. The serial was on a sticker in the round recess by 1012 but has been removed or fallen off. Or may be stuck to the underside of the rotor. You actually have a very nice example of a not particularly desirable model. It looks unworn in fact but probably needs a full service which will add to your outlay. It won’t have too many fans here but I think you could have done a lot worse at the price.

As noted the spring for the regulator is rusty, and the movement spacer is either broken or not the original one - hard to say for sure.
