Do we think this discontinued model will be a “ collector” someday? I found one locally for a pretty good price, And after doing a little research, Think it may be. I will say this , the dial metal / porosity looks REALLY cool
In person. Tell me your opinion!!

The Omega website says it’s still available to order online.

Maybe , but it has been discontinued according to my AD, and a sourcer I know in a different state.

What's your take on a 'pretty good price'
📖
Oh , I don’t know, I’d say 20% off list isn’t bad ?

Does that matter if there is still lots of stock on shelves?

What may or may not be desirable to collectors in the future is impossible to know, but right now you can walk into any Omega Boutique in London and buy one of these. Cool watches, but not exactly flying off the shelves at RRP.

Who knows? I’m not even sure I will ever get one, but, every watch at one time was “ easy to get”, till it wasn’t?

The amount of Seamaster models released in the last 2 decades that became sought after is close to none. I would not expect this one to be any different.

Buy it because you like it, not because you think you'll be able to sell it to someone for a lot more than you paid for it

These are nice-looking models, but readily available everywhere Omegas are sold. I don't think they've been discontinued.

That feels like a very zen statement. 😁

Lots of Omega watches that are discontinued sit in OB stock for years after they are out of the catalogue. When the Speedmaster 60th was launched several OBs in London still had the Speedmaster 50th in stock.

There are very few Omega models that have sold out quickly… and now that they make limited production rather than limited edition, it may be that they never sell out of a watch again… at least until they stop producing it.

The Nekton is a very handsome watch, but frankly I find the RRP is eye watering, and given how easy it is to buy one, I suspect I’m not the only person who feels that way.

As soon as I purchase this watch it will be in the hands of a collector.::rimshot::

I brought mine towards the back end of last year, trying various different models in the store it was the only one that I ‘needed’ 😁 . Now my silver dial 300m doesn’t get a look in .
The difference in cost isn’t worth it however I much prefer it, so paid up.
I don’t really see it being a collectors as such as mentioned above , it’s readily available

It’s very rare that under selling models rise later. I can think of only 1 example.

Rolex Daytona?
Huh?

They have always sold well...

I was thinking the TinTin was not loved at launch, and was available for 1/2 the price of a new Hesalite for years after being disconituned. Then some people had a vested interest and IMHO manipulated the market to get them in the 15-20 k range... They are dropping a bit I see. I see some other people trying to make the Apollo 17 40th edition a thing.... good luck selling at over 8k IMHO... let alone 20 lol.

Moon to Mars would most likely have growth potential once we go to mars.. but those dials are not aging well with red mars fading to green....

Now in the case of the Nekton.. it is interesting and derivative of a Yachtmaster, but if you're looking for cool Seamaster limited editions that you can get for a great price, I would look at the ETNZ watches... those are amazing unique pieces that are still easy to find in the various generations it was offered.

If it truly is discontinued, that's because it wasn't selling. If it wasn't selling, then your odds of reselling it down the road are even lower.

I had the Rolex version of this watch, and I found that the bezel scratched very easily and the whole thing was just too monochrome for me. The Omega is nicer, with a contrasting face, but the price stopped me in my tracks. It still does. Yeah, yeah, platinum, yada, yada, yada, I'd rather have a speedmaster.

This was certainly the most loved modern watch release by Omega. Sold out in a flash when they hit the Streets and huge collector’s value in the future 😗😗

One of the best variants next to the black/white. No date is also nice.

I really liked it when I saw it in person. I'm a little surprised that it would be discontinued so quickly.

I think: if you really like it and it's not selling well, see if you can grab it at a discount. If it goes up, great. If not, you got a model you like for under MSRP. Could do worse.
