Hi fellas. Just got me my first Seamaster Diver 300M, a 42mm, 2020, white dial. I love this, and I also ordered another one with black dial to match. I did not like the blue and grey dials thou, and judging by pictures, the blue seem to have been another color on the more classic Seamaster Diver 300M, or am I wrong here?
The first and third photo are of the same watch. What do you mean. Yes it appears slightly different in various lighting conditions.
Thank you, I'm aware of lightning conditions, but I saw the standard blue one in the store, and to my mind it was more dull than the far left one.
Under a bright light or in the sun, the blue will just pop. Whereas it can look close to navy or black under other lighting.
Look at my photo, I was the same till I saw a siver face one in the outdoor light/sun, it looked amnaizing so went for it!
You don’t happen to have a better picture? Would be nice to see it in detail. Anyone got a blue to show off?
Light has a significant effect on the current models of the Seamaster. The blue and silver dial variants tend to change "personality" in low light, both the bezel and dials show different aspects of the layers of engraving and printing depending on light.
As a side note, the reason it changes so much isn't due to the amount of light (bright light or low light), but on whether that light is hard or soft, as well as what exactly is being reflected in the dial. Blue sky and hard sunlight will make the dial color pop and the polished hands and indexes shine, for example. Overcast sky will make the dial look muted, but the polished parts will tend to pop more, as they are reflecting the white sky. Here's an example in my kitchen. First is in soft light (shadow), the other is in the same spot in direct hard light. This isn't a blue dial, but you can still see the drastic effect.
Very nice pics fellas! I think it’s in my budget to maybe get both the blue and gray standard colors too, so I guess I may do that. Please share some more pics if you got them. I have a Planet Ocean 600 Titanium also. I’ll post pics tomorrow.
